Can I recieve a blessing.

I have recongized the sources and that that the pope has ultimate authority. Yet you seem not to want to recognize the information I have stated as to local authority.
The question has been to the enforcement of this particular letter on this one issue. It’s wording and it’s presentation as well as it’s effect, since the practice of giving blessings continues.
You can scream all day long that the CDWDS has the ultimate authority, but yet in this situatuion, that doesn’t seem to be the case. You have not addressed that reason.

See…all this brings up a question for me… Who am I, as the average person in the pew, supposed to listen to? If I am following my priest…who obeys the Bishop…and he does/allows some things…how is that wrong:shrug: In some cases (topics I can’t discuss) the Bishop is following the USCB… But some people such as MC and Benedictgal think I should be following their interpretation or searching through GIRM and Cannon Law… But seriously…I’m trying to follow my faith simply and do God’s will… Why should the average Catholic not follow their priest and Bishop? Unless it’s something glaringly wrong?

The fact is that a blessing should not be given/received during the reception of communion. That being said, if people come up with crossed arms, the communion line is not the place to correct anyone–the Eucharist ought to be the focus not who is receiving and how/or not.

If a priest blesses people in the communion line he is usually doing so simply because someone has presented himself with crossed arms. For the sake of not disrupting communion he can do that even if it is illicit . He may wish to instruct his people at another time as to proper procedures.

Unless and until the prohibition against receiving a blessing in the communion line is more fully known and followed, every priest has to decide how best to deal with it in his own situation under the guidance of his bisbop.
