This cannot be from your own mouth but from the one who works in you. Catholics both love the physical Jesus and the spiritual Jesus. And we would not speak of Jesus in this manner.

This is what happens here - a person experienced that grace of God through the action of one person - Mary. If you do not want to give Mary the credit for this, fine, but at least welcome this person to the family of God and gives thanks. You did not and had not. So I suspect your belief because anyone who has experienced God and his love and truly believe in Him will rejoice in seeing a brother coming back to the sheepfold. You do not seem to be that enthusiatic and therefore your motive must be suspect.

Yes, this seems to be what’s happening. … I am sorry for him. Let’s pray together with the Blessed Mother to intercede to the Lord so that pride and egoism should be washed away from him so as to see truth and reality of love of God in its fulness.

Before this beautiful thread becomes wastefully derailed, I like you to know, that your testimony has warmed many hearts here. Your discovery of a new faith in God has indeed increased our very own.

As you can see, we welcome you to the family of God and we thanks God for his love (in this case for using His Mother) to bring you to Him. Speaking as a brother, I hope you will pursue what you had began from your experience, and I know you will do because that’s what God wants from you.

The beauty of the Christian God that became human meant just that. He is not human just to play that role and once finished only to say, ‘it’s done’. No, he was truly human just like all of us. He had a mother, a father and family. He felt and touched, just like we do. Being better than most of us, as human, he surely love and honor his parents in a special way. His mother included.

We love Him not because we love Him first but it is He who does. Because we love him, we would not want to dishonor whom He Himself loves. I guess that’s what we Catholics are saying, simply.

Mary is a servant of God, a sinner and she prayed feverishly WITH the other disciples after the crucifixion, NOT FOR the others.

OR

2 : GOD ← JESUS ← MARY ← MAN

BUT Jesus said ‘Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’

Jesus never said ‘Go to Mary’.

OR

3 : GOD ← MARY ← JESUS ← MAN

BUT the Bible says “1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,”

In other words, Structure 2 and Structure 3 is WRONG.

Sorry everyone - I didn’t mean to start a bar fight

Somehow, it seems very appropriate to me that my heart being opened to the existence of God, and to the reality of sin, and to the possibility of forgiveness and salvation, was done through Mary the Mother of God.

Who better to touch the hardened, pride ridden heart of an abortionist, than the Woman who’s womb carried the Saviour of mankind.

It was like God knew I would respond to the touch of His Mother, more than anything or anyone else. Even though my experience of Her was ZERO. I knew no prayers, I knew no rituals, I knew no practices, I had no belief … and yet She came

To the poster who suggested praying the Magnificat every night - thank you. I am - well I ‘‘read’’ it, and reflect on it, not sure if that’s ‘‘praying’’ but it was the words of this wonderful prayer that first reached my proud heart.
I’m also now ‘‘praying’’ the Hail Mary every day. The words ‘’ blessed is the Fruit of Thy Womb Jesus’’ just continue to strike home to me again and again and again. It’s so beautiful.

These are the 2 prayers I say every day now. I say them and reflect on their words. I think about what has happened so quickly and in such a short period of time, and I’m still left wondering and a bit scared and at times do genuinely think I’ve completely whacked out - but now I have someone to talk to about it

i am so glad you were with us when it transpired! i know it has profoundly affected you, but it has affected us as well. i have been following it since you first started posting and i get tears everytime i read it. i pray that others will feel the blessed mother’s embrace as well and turn from their unchristian ways.

Don’t worry about starting a bar fight, we have people who come on here not to learn but just to throw rocks. It is something that we are used to as Catholics and we are well prepared. Your story continues to touch people and you have many praying for you on your journey. My advice to you, for what it’s worth, is to just take it easy, do some reading about Catholicism and most of all, just trust that Jesus and His mother are holding you in their hearts. All the questions, doubts and fears will work themselves out. Healing is taking place, you are forgiven, you are loved and you have been given the gift of faith. Pay no attention to those who would rob you of it. I continue to pray for you. BTW, the Holy Rosary is probably the best prayer for you, our Holy Mother draws very near to those who pray the Rosary. God bless you.

Not yet

I did go out and find a Catholic Church though, so I now know where one is at. I also found a prayer hall and a Methodist church (I think).

But I’m drawn to go into the Catholic Church.

I haven’t do it yet though. Now you mention it, I didn’t note what times Mass was at either doh!!!

I suppose what’s holding me up is I don’t know what I’m going to do there.

Just sit and watch and ‘‘be’’ I suppose.

I also have this stupid idea in my head people will come up to me and start with the ol ‘‘you aint from aroun these here parts’’ routine and start spitting chewing backy at me

Or they just start asking me stuff and panic me, and then I have to run away, and fall over, coz I’m in high heels, and break my ankle, then I hobble to the nearest store for refuge, but I stumble coz my ankle is broken, and I knock over the window display, and the store owner calls the cops, and I get arrested, and jailed, and my shoes are handed in as evidence, and I never get to get my high heels repaired

Don’t worry about it. Just go to mass and just watch what everybody else does. Nobody is going to interrogate you or “love-bomb” you or anything else. Just immerse yourself in the love of Jesus and His mother. A visit to the Blessed Sacrament would be good too. This is Jesus Truly Present in the Host. Just ask someone where the Blessed Sacrament is located, sometimes it is in the Church or in a separate chapel. God bless you and enjoy!

you do have an active imagination, don’t you ?!?!?

if you’re in the US, there is usually a misselette in the pew that you can follow along with, but mostly you can just stand and sit and kneel as the people around you do.

if you would feel better about it, contact the parish and ask if there is someone who would assist a newbie.

just go tho, but, don’t go up to communion yet, (about 3/4 of the way thru, everybody stands up to go to the altar to receive Jesus), you have to be officially received into the church before you can do that!!
