Can I still buy Girl Scout Cookies? =/

There’s a lot of rumor-mongering and hearsay - that’s what it’s called: hearsay - which is against CAF forum rules, no? I would like to see documentation that “proves” the Girl Scouts are a “baby-killing organization.” It’s easier to clear my conscience with facts and reason than it is to jump on the “it’s a sin to buy Girl Scout cookies” bandwagon. So, please: in accordance with CAF forum rules, please provide credible sources. Otherwise, it’s sinful to spread gossip. Thanks.
She was refering to Planned Parenthood, which does indeed kills some 300,000 babies a year , most of which are minorities.

Planned Parenthood does in fact do mammograms. Just google the name and the word Mammogram and you will see that it does.

Thank you, Estesbob. I was INDEED talking about Planned Parenthood. Those of you who think I was referring to Starbucks as the baby-killing organization need to take the time to READ THE POSTS in their entirety before making accusations of libel. You are taking my words out of context because you didn’t take the time to read the post to which I was reponding. Had you done that, you would have seen that I was INDEED referring to Planned Parenthood as the “baby-killing organization”. And they certainly are just that - a Baby-Killing Organization.

Again, I reiterate my absolute horror in those of you who are defending the organizations that support Planned Parenthood. I am astounded, amazed and flabbergasted at the content of this entire thread!

Yes they do. Not only didn’t I deny that, but I actually stated it. If you would have TAKEN THE TIME TO READ MY PREVIOUS POSTS, would you have seen that I said THE ONLY REASON THEY DO MAMMOGRAMS is to qualify for federal funding. Their primary source of income is ABORTIONS. Their employees are trained to say whatever is necessary to get them in for an abortion.

Dear Freeda, I was talking about Planned Parenthood being the baby-killing organization. I don’t think that would be considered libelous. In buying Girl Scout cookies and knowing that GSA supports planned parenthood, you are knowingly supporting planned parenthood (i.e. “the baby-killing organization”). Is that clear enough for ya? There… no libel!

I am truly amazed at the Catholics on this thread that are defending organizations that support Planned Parenthood! Shame, shame, shame!!!

With respect to the issue of life, there should be NO COMPROMISES!!
First of all, I don’t think that you are correct about a link between GSA and PP.

I am amazed at the Catholics on this thread who are arrogantly disrespecting an organization like the GSA yet who are not offering another opportunity for young girls to learn to serve their community and to learn socialization skills.
Shame, shame, Shame!!!
I am equally amazed at the way some Catholics glory in the fact that this is one “sin” that they are NOT commiting when it’s clear that SOME of these Catholics are guilty of the sin of Pride. Shame Shame Shame.

Do the research.

Are you sure? Wouldn’t that be against the law?
No. To the eternal and everlasting shame of our country it is quite legal. 100 years from now we will look up back on this period of our country’s history the same way we look back at the the time slavery was legal. Profound shame and disbelief that people would tolerate such a abject evil in their midst.

Do the research.
Do you truly believe that you will win your sister over with your rhetoric? Is your agenda to prove that you’re right on a messageboard and to score points against another woman who
may be enduring great heartache at this time? Or do you truly care about the babies?
To you and to the gentleman:

Saying that a person who buys Starbuck coffee or Girl Scout cookies is actually supporting baby killers is as unpersuasive as my argument would be if I said that if you oppose Planned Parenthood that you are in favor of back alley abortionists.

Both statements are ridiculous.

You said you didn’t believe that GSA supports Planned Parenthood. I don’t particularly care about winning you over. I simply said “do the research”. Unfortunately, you don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve researched it and found that GSA is associated with Planned Parenthood and other forms of radical feminism. Do you want me to do the research for you? Is that it? Don’t be afraid of what you’ll find. Google it. You’ll see.

Buying Girl Scout cookies and Starbucks coffee, for example, is supporting an organization that supports the abortion industry. You can ease your conscience any way you see fit with all your meager defenses, but you certainly aren’t going to convince me that it’s okay to patronize a company that gives money to the abortion industry.

Especially since back alley abortions is a myth-a myth promoted to try and rationalize the killing of children. Prior to Roe V Wade 92% of all abortions were performed by licensed physician in a sterile environment. Maternal deaths from abortion were at the most 400 year, not that much different than they are today.

I rarely support boycotts as it is my opinion is that they hurt the employees of the company far more than they hurt employers.

actually Freeda, it’s more of a “scare/guilt” tactic. It doesn’t work anymore. Because people “do research” and “do ask questions” and “do dare think for themselves”. I know, I know, foreign concept, that someone should actually “think” for themselves.

It’s easier to be afraid, guilted, that way when proven wrong, they can say, “well, the Church said it, so I’m not blame”.

Actually, the Church didn’t say anything about GS cookies, Starbucks, McDonald’s, WalMart, Susan G Komen, Ford, Procter and Gamble, (ooo no wait, Procter and Gamble was a evang/fundy thing, they didn’t like the logo, they thought it was satanic)…anyway…talk about “carried away”

Yep, I still think a cave in a remote area would solve the problem. No more worries about buying the wrong thing (someones opionion).

I guess the Baptists are right in encouraging their congregations not to attend movie theaters. Oh, you didn’t know that. Let me enlighten you. You see, there is nothing wrong with going to see a G rated movie at the theater. However, right next door they are showing an R rated movie with lots of flesh in it. So to them you are giving your money to a theater that is peddling soft porn, even though you are not watching it. Oh and Disney has been banned due to gay days at Disney World and allowing same sex partners to receive benefits.

So where does one “escape”? yeah, I thought so.

You can “live” in a world, and not be “of it”. Use your God given common sense and “avoid” what is apalling to you.

I’m not trying to scare anyone. I was simply answering the OP’s question and was attacked by the lukewarms for my rigid stance and lack of compromise on the issue of the dignity of human life.

You see me as using a scare tactic and I see you as trying to ease your conscience as you munch on your Girl Scout cookies by attacking those of us who stick to their guns.

RosaryFan, I believe you once stated this:
Have you ever seen the Pro-Life Boycott List? You would not believe the thousands and thousands of organizations, businesses, banks, sports teams, restaurants, food chains, etc. that make the list. If we boycotted every organization that supported abortion, we would be homeless, naked and starving to death! You have to pick your battles. I have a select group of companies that I boycott because I find their support of abortion (particularly, funding Planned Parenthood) to be over the top and quite obnoxious. That’s who I boycott. The rest, I can’t even keep track of. Waaaay too many!
I certainly hope you did not include me in what you called the lukewarm who supported abortion, because that is far from the case. There is formal and material cooperation. Even buying oreos (made by Nabisco whose parent company is Kraft) would be considered patronizing the abortion industry if we were to go by the first quote I posted on top.

Whose lukewarm here? Is your rigid stance the only correct one? I don’t compromise on the issue of dignity of human life either.

You, personally, using a scare tactic, no, not at all. It’s the torches and pitchfork let’s run the Girl Scouts out of town by the mob mentality. Some people, yes, are “scared” and come here on CAF and ask all kinds of “Is is a sin”, “or can I do”, “or can I work at”. You have just over 800 posts. Stick around awhile, you’ll see more and you just may find, that folks are so “scared” to do, to buy, to work, to eat, unless “someone” “tells them what to do and how to think”. Did Jesus want us to come to Him in fear? Not from what I have read.

Change comes from within. Planned Parenthood cannot be attacked from the outside…it has to come from within the community, within households, within the Church community, through catechesis and spread outward. Ecumenicism also works well. It’s all in the “approach”. Donate $10.00 to the Girl Scouts for their troop. I was a cookie mom, and we used to received cash donations for the “troop”, and that is where it went. Community healthcare by pro-life doctors and healthcare workers is a good start. Maternity homes for unwed mothers who have chosen life are a good start. I have sponsored one and will continue to do so.

Your taxes filter out to programs you may think are ridiculas. I think so too. I pay them, and so do you.

The US is not going to ever get a right wing conservative all the way President. It is not going to happen. Just as we aren’t going to get a far left wing liberal President. No one was more shocked than I to find that my and my husbands wages have been frozen by a liberal President. It tantamount to animals eating their young. So we tighten our belts and work through it. Defense has overspent, that is obvious to anyone. 🤷

Can you still buy Girl Scout Cookies? Yeah, sure. Or you can donate to the “troop”.

All I know is that I am under attack for calling Starbucks and GSA “baby-killing organizations”, when in fact, I did not. I was referred to Planned Parenthood as the “baby-killing organization”, but at least 2 people have misunderstood that. Estesbob is the only one who defended me and said I was talking about Planned Parenthood.

So I have a rigid stance on the pro-life issues. I boycott whenever I can and whenever I have knowledge, especially things like Girl Scout cookies which are not considered a necessity, like, say aspirin and bandages.

Who is lukewarm here? You tell me. I’m not!

Mr. Blank, the first quote in your post was mine, but not the second one. (?) No. I was not including you. I was referring to the people who have jumped down my throat for calling Planned Parenthood a baby-killing organization. And I was referring to the poster who insisted I provide “proof” of GSA’s affiliation w/ Planned Parenthood because she didn’t believe me. She also accused me of not “winning her over” because of my “scare tactics”. That is who I was referring to.

I know what you meant and I know you meant that buying Girl Scout cookies was indirectly supporting PP. I got that.🤷

Well, if you look back on the last few posts, I’ve been getting reamed for saying something I did not.

I expect that kind of treatment from secular society, co-workers, people on the streets, but a Catholic web site where people are supposed to be pro-life accusing me of using scare tactics, being libelous, and not doing my research… Egad! I’m speaking up for the unborn. And there is no room for compromise.

I consider it a compromise. I won’t even let my daughter join Girl Scouts. If GSA is supporting the abortion industry, my daughter is not donning their emblem. Now everyone jump down my throat for that. Go ahead.
