Prayers up for a new job!
Thank you!!

I quoted the Bible to her, when she started a passage, I would finish it.

The thing is, I told her, “I know the arguements,” (of assured salvation) and she said, “I don’t want to argue with you…” That’s when she said she wishes we had more time and she’ll get the scriptures for me later. We need a better eye-rolling smiley here; I don’t like the one we have, but, I want to use an emoticon

I did not say she did want to argue with me, only that I know that some do believe they believe they can KNOW.

Pray all, not only that I get a new job, (AND PLEASE PRAY FOR THAT) but, that I have the graces and charity needed for THIS job (I really don’t respect my boss).

Hi ads, God Bless you for trying to witnessa and explain our Catholic Faith. Sometimes the best we can do is just live it and try to answer questions if asked. Praying for you to find a new job, but remain charitable in the mean time… Take care…

Everything was as fine as could be expected (I didn’t want to get into it with her), until she wanted to show me that she knows 100% she is going to go to Heaven and she will bring in scriptures to show me to prove it. I told her that that is presumption, I will hope I go to Heaven, I pray I go to Heaven, but, the only people who know are The Trinity.

She also believes that if you confess Jesus is Lord with your mouth, you will be saved (unless you didn’t really mean it).

I also told her I was born again, but, became Catholic later. She gave me a skeptical look like I was trying to pull one over on her.

I don’t want to get into it with her, and, I don’t know what I should do. Should I let it go and have her think she’s right? Should I explain in the Bible the whole “working out my salvation with fear and trembling,” et al?

I don’t want to, but, if I need to, what will she show me and what should I have as a reply?
Good morning, my sister 😃
Some advice; try to keep this low-key. It will take your patience! 😉
Take any literature she gives you. If you don’t have an answer for her, you can tell her that! But, tell her you will get back to her on it. Then post here 😉
We’re here for ya!
Joyous Easter!

My boss knows I’m Catholic. She’s a Baptist. If you check my other threads, I want to get out of this job, but, today, she started witnessing to me (because I was in black with black eyeshadow and told her it was because it was Good Friday mourning? Because she asked if we were allowed to eat today and I explained the rules? Because I asked her for the afternoon off so I could go to Mass?).

UGH!! I can’t believe this happened on Good Friday. It took a lot for me to get focused for Mass (fortunately I have a 2 hour drive).
Believing in Jesus, accepting Him as the Son of God, repenting of our sins, and believing in the Gospel are ALL COMMANDS. We’re not saved by commands, we’re saved by grace—by His blood! 🙂

Faith is giving your life over to God, and following Him.👍

Maybe you can print this up and take it to her

I work with baptists, jehovah witnesses and born agains &.am the only Catholic at my job; and, WAS barraged daily.

I was able to end it when I quoted the Bible passages regarding the Eucharist and told them that since they take everything from the Bible literally (their own words), how can they be so hypocritical in saying that eating the fllesh of Christ is a figurative interpretation. So, I told them. unless they eat of His flesh and drink of His blood they shall not have everlasting life; and, the only place they can find to fulfill that literal interpretation of the Bible is the Catholic Churches. It became an end of conversation sticking point.

You need to document,** in writing**, your request that she cease prosthelytizing. Tell her it is unwelcome and makes you uncomfortable. Put this in writing via a signed memo or an email.

Subsequent to asking her to stop, in writing, document all conversations-- dates and times, content, when you asked her to stop, responses etc.

Keep a copy of your written request and documentation of conversations in an offsite file.

If she or the husband take any adverse action against you in the future (such as a sudden lay off, demotion, change in pay or status) submit a complaint to your state labor board and include your documentation.

Continue looking for a job, but you have rights while you are at this job. It doesn’t matter that she is the owner of the company.

Thank you all for the help!!

I’m on my lunch break. So far, so good. She hasn’t started anything save I should probably try to find a home church here and not go to Tulsa to find a boyfriend. I told her I wasn’t really looking, though.

Before I went into work this morning, I went to the catholic.com library and looked under the, “Assurance of Salvation” article to copy the Bible passages into my cell phone…just in case.

I have other complaints about this job, but, I wont list them here (though, they are accessable in the other threads). I thank you all for the suggestions, advice, and most importantly your prayers.

Hmm. I don’t know what kind of work you do, but I am pretty sure that it is considered harassment for a boss to continually dog their employee about his or her religion. I would charitably remind your boss of this fact and continue to look for some other form of employment. Evangelization wars have no place in the workplace as far as I know. I go to work to work. I don’t do work that in any way hinders my beliefs, but I also don’t do anything to unreasonably provoke negative or positive reactions from people of opposite or similar faith. I once worked alone at a security booth and hung a rosary where I could see it but where it wouldn’t be upsetting to non-Catholics. Most of the workers were from Latin America, so if they saw it, they would not have cared. Out bosses were protestants, and they didn’t care what we did as long as we got our jobs done well.

Work ought to be kept professional and no boss should be engaging in religious debates with their employees. This places undue stress on the employee as one faith is given preference over another and leads to bad business. Tell your boss that. Tell her that you came to work to work, and that anything else is harassment and is probably illegal. If she doesn’t quit, complain to the proper agency that she was dileberately creating an uncomfortable working environment by persecuting you for your faith.

… I want to get out of this job, but, today, …
adstrinity,

Also be open to the possibility that the root cause of your conflict may not have anything at all to do with differences of religious beliefs.

Are you simply in a generic situation you repeatedly get yourself into in one form or another - not just with this job, but in general?
Do you have multiple desires/ambitions/etc. that are mutually conflicting?
Are you drawn into situations trying to learn some lesson that you at the same time resist learning?

Try praying for successfully learning all life lessons you encounter.
Also try praying for the clarification and resolution of all mutually conflicting beliefs/habits/desires/ambitions/etc. you may have.

If you are interested in a simple, free (and non-religious) method for becoming aware of and resolving some of these kinds of things, check out emofree.com.
They have a free instruction manual to download at emofree.com/downloadeftmanual.asp.
