Is there other ways to God?

How many people here believe that there are many ways to God?

What is the Catholic churches position on this issue?

No, the only way to God is through Christ. To believe otherwise is to reject the teachings of Christ which is to reject his divinity.

In other words only a non-Christian can make the claim.

Only one way to God as Scripture attest and that is through Christ

Do you know what the Catholic churches position is about other ways to God?

From the Catechism.

**846 **How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers? Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:
Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.

John 14:6 Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.

We only know what Christ tells us about this, but He probably didn’t tell us everything. If there are “other ways” to God, they have to pass through Christ.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church makes the Church’s position quite clear:
432 The name “Jesus” signifies that the very name of God is present in the person of his Son, made man for the universal and definitive redemption from sins. It is the divine name that alone brings salvation, and henceforth all can invoke his name, for Jesus united himself to all men through his Incarnation,23 so that "there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."24

A helpful article that expands on the point:

Thanks for this, so the Catholic church accepts what Jesus says that He is the only way to God?

All other religions like Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism etc can’t get a person to God?

We do not know. Those who do not know Christ we entrust to the Mercy of God but we can not say what the fate of their soul is.

Not true. The church does not agree with this. People of all faiths can get to heaven. If this is true than every priest I have ever asked about the subject lied to me (at least 10 over my lifetime).

Are you suggesting that Jesus could be lying when He says He is the only way to God because people might be able to get to God in other ways?

Did I say that? I said that we do not know, we trust to the Mercy of God that He will not hold it against those who do not know Christ.

Those that do know Christ are bound by this.

Are you suggesting that God would harm someone who does not know Him through no fault of their own?

The Catholic Church’s position is that there is one way to God and that is through Christ. Jesus is God become man and through Him we recieve communion with God.
I am suggesting Jesus never said that.
Yes He did. He said, “I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through me. [John14:6]”

No, Jesus wasn’t lying but at the same time we can’t judge anyones soul. All men come to God through Christ. We can only hope for the salvation of those who are not Christian.

Is someone suggesting that Jesus was arrogant when He said He is the only way to God?
The notes in a Study Bible I have goes against what you are trying to push here.

The verse you are using, John 14:6 is not seen to be exclusive. It is directed at a particular faith community and not a statement about other religions.

As I have said, we can only take this as directed to us. We know Christ and for us He is the only way. For those who do not know Christ we rely on the Mercy of God.
