All other religions like Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism etc can’t get a person to God?
How can they, when they deny Him? Islam, for example, denies the divinity of Christ and that the crucifixion happened as it did - they therefore deny the Son of the Trinity (denying therefore the fullness of God) and the very thing that brought about our salvation.
“Being then God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.” [Acts 17:29-31]
The arrogance that it takes to say this is not even realized by those that say it.
Actually, the opinion seems to be fairly scriptural.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” [John 14:6]
“So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” [Matthew 10:32-33]
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father…” [John 14:9]
“Whoever hates me hates my Father also.” [John 15:23]
By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. [1 John 4:2-3]
Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. [Galatians 2:16]
For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. [1 Corinthians 15:22]
Unless, of course, you wish to make the case that our Lord, His most beloved disciple and St. Paul were all arrogant.
He who rejects the Spirit rejects the Son, and he who rejects the Son rejects the Father. [St. Basil the Great, *On the Holy Spirit, 27]
So God can’t lie and what He says is 100% true. How come some people here are suggesting that some Catholics believe/teach that people can get to God in other ways?
Modern universalism affecting those who do not truly understand their faith well enough and are dwelling too deep in the ways of the world.
