Can men dress immodestly?

So the pants are a little tight. Where I live, men don’t often wear pants this tight. Women, however, frequently wear all of their clothes this tight, plus it’s shorter/lower cut and more revealing.

And both are wrong.

Women don’t “frequently wear all their clothes this tight”.

Most actually DON’T. Amazing you think otherwise.

I’m a woman, I don’t dress this way. I know all don’t… but in my experience, it’s common. Maybe my generation? I’m in my twenties.

the mankini is an obvious joke. of course it’s immodest. that’s the point.

No one’s clothes should be that tight, women’s or men’s. Perhaps immodest is a stretch - I’ll go with inappropriate.

I can’t with this. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We’re all going to get banned. And I’m laughing about it.

The best that can be said about the mankini is that it takes selfconfidence to wear it, and that’s a stretch.

sure. i can get behind that. i think immodest is just thrown around too much.

besides all this depends on where you live. what’s modest in america might be immodest in iran. and whats modest for what you wear on the beach might be immodest in the city

Most don’t dress that way, though. It’s the few that get noticed in the sea of those who don’t. And I’d agree it’s prevalent in the twenties crowd. What I see in shopping malls in that age group can be horrifying.

Some of it isn’t their fault. I realized this taking my nieces shopping. Holy smokes. What’s out there for purchase is appalling. No wonder you started a thread soliciting ideas on where to buy clothes.

It makes me sad that this thread tends to a slightly crude humour. There is good humour and the other that can be a little on the rough side.
God bless.

I just want to say, as a man, if I dress immodestly, I guarantee it’s out of me being clueless to how women perceive me because I just threw on whatever was closest to me in my closet that day. In fact, I dont’ think I’ve EVER dressed with what women think of me in mind. I don’t think men are as fashion savvy as women. All I care about is if my clothes fit or are washed…and sometimes I don’t care if my clothes are washed!

That’s a fair observation. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve lived in Saudi Arabia, and that’s a big swing of the pendulum in the other direction - but a great example of just that.

And yep - there’s often a time and a place.

It depends on the region. The barbarian topos is of early roman origin. The later roman empire knew pants and wore them up to the elites, as the nobility in the migration era did. The middle east wore pants for centuries (and on women!) Due to the influence of horse back riding cultures as the timurid or tatars.
Nice to add: big parts of the christian medieval europe wore not more than a shirt and diaper shaped underpants on the fields when working 😉
