Can men dress immodestly?

I actually think if you dressed immodestly you’d know it, though. I don’t think you’re giving yourself enough credit.

I agree it’s harder for a man to cross that line, and women get beat up all the time for unintentionally crossing it. There’s a crazy double standard on the issue.

I think it’s women’s fashion. Blame women’s clothesmakers for making very very thin clothing. It’s a shame

I agree with this. I, for one, know that women aren’t thinking of me when they choose their outfit 😛

Nice to add: big parts of the christian medieval europe wore not more than a shirt and diaper shaped underpants on the fields when working 😉
And I still find that hard to believe @alice24. They had linen, hemp clotch, leather, wool, why would they run around half naked? It scratches your legs walking around in the fields wearing shorts you know.

If a man is not fit, then women wont lust after him and vice versa.

that’s only partly true. i’ve seen some women lust after total unattractive guys. they compensated for their looks in other ways

Fabric wasn’t cheap, for one. And their fields wouldn’t have been quite the same as ours. They would’ve been planted by hand with very primitive tools, far more primitive than even what many Old Order Amish use today. Wider rows, I’m sure.

Yup - the idea of most people having a whole wardrobe to choose from is quite modern. Your average peasant probably had two or three outfits in total, and they patched them until they couldn’t anymore.

Ötzi lived 5000 years ago and I recon he was a well clothed chap :)🤣

Ohh, and I forgot goat hide (even if planting the fields was a pain, fact is herbivores wouldn’t have a short amount of grass to eat. You could even make clothes from rabbit skin I recon…)

A well cultured field is not that scratchy, and the reality is: the majority was simply poor. Textile and leather was not for damaging it, and often they had one pair of higher Boots to cover the legs. Only this kind of underwear was washable in a regular way. Colours of upper garments were often not stabile in warm water.
I will add some examples when I am back home. But really, costume history is something I made up to the point I didn’t want to see a single piece of linnen ever again 🙂

I’m not saying that most dress totally immodestly, but I still think it is accurate to say that most women (at least that i know) wear clothing just as tight, if not tighter, than that picture of the guy in the suit.

And I don’t like shopping anyway, so sorting through some of the options out there is not fun 😂

while looks matter, they matter first. if you don’t have looks you won’t get dates. but after having at least average looks you need a job and a good personality and things in common.

basically the whole package.

looks get the girls in through the door but everything else keeps them there

Ötzi was going alpine hiking in the copper age. He wasn’t tilling the fields.
Are you suggesting modern alpinists cover up because of modesty, rather than because of weather?

I agree that some of men wear too skinny pants. It looks ridiculous.
I have wide hips so I cant buy well fitted pants. I can choose from tight ones or loose. I hate wearing tight clothes.
My suit is silly because of my body, pants at least fit in my hips and waist but legs are flying on the wind, they are too wide

I have flagged your post and images as they are crude
and offensive. This thread makes me ashamed.
