To be very clear:

Celebate = not married
Chaste = expressing ones sexuality appropriate to one state in life.
If you are catholic and unmarried should you be having sex? NO! Therefore celibate=not married= no sex. Whats the second meaning of chaste?

See the Catechism for full meanings. I think he was trying to just point out that: Chastity for married persons includes sex with their spouse.

I was reading on another website about chaste SSA relationships.

They termed the question as “two SSA persons committed to each other in an emotionally intimate yet sexually chaste friendship.”

Bonded emotionally in friendship - chaste sexually. A brotherhood.

Which, quite honestly, that is what the practice of chastity is - an emotional bonding to other men and women in friendship. A wanting for each other to see God.
:mad:It’s Evil, Listen to me, it’s Evil! Do not mix God with satan! It’s Evil! That’s what’s wrong with society it tries to mix religion with sex, and sex with God and they are all mixed up, not knowing reality from fantasy, from such depart. Read your bible, don’t go along with what the world says is the right thing to do, because it is the in thing or everyone is doing this and excepting it as the right answer to the wrong feeling. Trust in God and lean not unto your own understanding.Stay safe within his realm.

I’m glad someone clarified these terms! They are often (usually?) misunderstood.

Celibacy, as you noted, means not being married. Some people are called to this permanently.
Chastity is something that everyone, everywhere, is called to at all times.

Neither term means explicitly continence, or abstinence, which is refraining from sex. All celibate people are called to continence; a married person is not necessarily and certainly may have marital, unitive sex that is open to life. Both are called to chastity.

Chastity means a lot more, though, than “married people can have sex and unmarried people can’t.” It involves appropriate relationships with everyone we know with regard to sexuality and intimacy. A married man flirting with another woman is being unchaste; pornography and masturbation are unchaste; artificial contraception is unchaste; and I believe that a homosexual romantic relationship, even continent (without sex), is also unchaste, as it is not in line with the way God designed our relationships to work. So a “chaste homosexual romantic relationship” is not possible.
