Doc Keele,

Your profile says that you’re a Carmelite novice. Have you discussed your positions on abortion and euthanasia with the Carmelites?

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂

Doc, are you Catholic?

Ave Maria! Ora pro nobis.

And you’d be very wrong.

Just sayin’ …

so you’re saying that all people --since we are all born with original sin–are thus ‘not innocent’ and can be killed with impunity so long as we’re in that state?

that original sin, which is not personal sin, precludes the unborn child from innocence by your definition, whereas a born baptized child is the only true innocent?

that somehow people would not mind the original sin babies being killed but they would mind an ‘innocent one dying’ so we awful pro lifers are **lying **in order to manipulate people into a false belief?

Original sin is inherited, not an action or omission. Therefore, we are innocent when we are born. To be culpable of sin, one must either do what is wrong or fail to do what is right. Whereas original sin is part of the human condition. Therefore, it does ot impugn anyone personally.

Even if we were culpable of actual sin while in the womb, we are not culpable of the problems outside or around us. Therefore, we’re still innocent.

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂

Both unborn children and those who have been born are completely free of personal sin.

Are you using your reasoning to justify aborting unborn children?

Ave Maria! Ora pro nobis.

Who has asked you to destroy what God has formed in the womb? You are responsible for making decisions for yourself. Allow others the same courtesy.

Limerick
OK, so uh, I decide that I want to murder you. It’s my decision, right? All my own. Allow me the courtesy of making that decision, please.

Ave Maria! Ora pro nobis.

***As usual, JReducation responds with tact, sincerity and zero judgment. Thank you, sir.

Limerick and Doc. . .is it a coincidence that you two appear to have your own ‘special’ definitions for words?

Doc has his definition for ‘murder’ (and abortion just doesn’t meet his criteria).

And Limerick his/her definition for “innocent unborn child” (and heck, THAT is a 'figment of the prolifer’s imagination). . .

You two have a lot in common.

***Stop coattailing on the voice of civility. You can’t unring the bell.

Yes, he did. Perhaps we can ALL learn from his example!

Ave Maria! Ora pro nobis.
Good point and we thank JR.

Perhaps when it gets later at night our judgment might falter and our tact lessen. . .so thank you JR for giving us good example.

I will attempt to translate your somewhat obscure statement. I think what you are trying to say is that my response to your post was somewhat, shall we say, uncivil? Am I correct? Or do you mean something else?

I have no intention of attempting to unring the bell. I don’t even know what bell you are referring to. But when you post something like you did, you are not being civil. An uncivil post tends to draw out incivility in others. Hence, my last response. 🙂

And as one who is trying to become more charitable in her responses, my reply was in earnest. I do intend to follow JR’s example. 🙂

***You are absolutely correct, it is entirely within the scope of your exercise of free will to decide that you want to murder me. It is YOUR DECISION, ALL YOUR OWN. I wouldn’t think of interfering with your choice; it is not my place to manipulate your decision-making process. However, once your choice is made and you put your plan into action, I must request the reciprocal courtesy that you allow me to decide to shoot you dead in self-defense. I will then accept whatever consequences are attached to my actions.

Capisce?

***What is it about my post that you find uncivil? Never met such a tenderfoot on this forum.

I am not attempting to justify anything. I have expressed an apparently erroneous belief, one passed along to me in the dark days of the 1950s in Catechism class, and JReducation has seen to set me straight. You, on the other hand, seem to be spoiling for a fight. If you choose to meet in another format I will consider accommodating that request.
