Who cares if the GOP wins if the candidate is a pro-war, similarly minded person in economics? Seriously, there’s no difference. Obama is being made out to be a great evil, yet Romney and Gingrich are the same. So who cares if the vote is splintered?
In that neither Romney or Gingrich don’t want to decriminalize all drugs, end central banking, and have a military isolationist foreign policy, you are correct.

I care if the vote is splintered because I see a vast difference between Sotomayor and Kagan vs Roberts and Alito.

This Associated Press article on Ron’s Daily Paul web site lists the issues, but it does not say what actions Ron Paul would take. He believes in personal liberties, but what happens when one person’s personal liberties forces others to pay? The facts show that more people are choosing to not get married. This qualifies the moms as single mothers who receive financial help, even if the dad lives in the home. Married taxpayers are forced to pay for 18 years of health, education, and welfare (and sometimes college) of those kids, which saves the dads money to spend elsewhere. This infringes on the civil liberties of married parents. What would Ron Paul do when one person’s civil liberties cost others?

What about the other issues? e.g. Increased costs of learning disabled kids as a result of drug use, the lack of adequate drug tests for stoned driving accidents that will occur if states can legalize drugs, etc.

By personal liberties you also have personal responsibility. Becoming a mother is a personal decision and the financial burden is no longer society’s burden but their own.

So, do you think he would advocate cancelling all benefits? Really? How is this not getting aired in the liberal media?

The present system is not fair to taxpayers and is not reducing the problem. It’s making the situation worse in some instances by rewarding people for cheating the system, and we all know how some people love to be immature by believing they are entitled to get something for nothing.

The liberal media know Ron Paul is not a credible candidate, and so have been treating him like an entertaining uncle rather than a candidate whose current or past views deserve investigation.

Just an FYI (and I am certainly not a Ron Paul fan) in all 3 states I’ve lived in social services and Pell grants are administered based on household income, not parental income. So if a man and a woman live together and raise kids, whether they are married or not they won’t qualify for food stamps, their kid won’t get Pell grants, etc.

If you think Obama would lose more than he would gain in a Paul 3rd party run, I have a bridge for sale.
I didn’t mean to imply that. Yes, he would definitely take more Republican votes than Obama votes.
I’m still waiting for a Paul supporter to tell us how much of our foriegn and domestic policy we should change to ensure we don’t anger a few Islamists, and thereby ̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ *provoke * another 9/11.
You’re missing the point. We don’t need to worry about angering Islamists; we need to not worry so much about everyone else and stop policing the world.

I’ve found that to be true as well…household income is what is considered.

And that would give Obama the election.
If we stop “policing the world” the radicals will take over. Bin Laden’s cheif grievance was that US forces were in Saudi Arabi. We are in Saudi Arabia at the invitation of the legitimate government of that nation. So…do we run our foriegn policy based on the musings of radicals like Bin Laden or do we deal with the legitimate governments that are in place?

We can deal with legitimate government’s diplomatically, but we do not need troops stationed all over the world.

Why not? Having troops in the region helps. A large part of what we are doing in Saudi is training…diplomats can’t conduct military training.

no health care?

If Paul proves himself to be a credible candidate by winning Iowa, he’ll get a lot more attention. I would love to see that, but he has always been a niche candidate without much appeal beyond the libertarian wing of the Republican Party. I think most of the media are on target in focusing on other candidates with better potential to win the nomination.

I guess the bigoted media is lying in wait rather than asking the tough questions.
You’re going to have to define your terms. Are the bigoted media synonymous with the liberal media, a subset of the liberal media, inclusive of both liberal and conservative media? And what particular bigotry are they exhibiting?

I debated whether or not to ask if this question, but I figured it was worth asking early so there could be some clarification.

They don’t report the income of the man. And the govt agencies don’t investigate, because they want more people on the dole, their budgets swell. So that is easily scammed.

I said it before and I will say it again. Neither I nor anyone else who would vote for a third party candidate given a poor selection (and I’m not certain yet whether I would qualify Romney or Gingrich as part of the poor selection) is willing to vote on the principle of one bad candidate being a lesser evil than the other because it promotes the development of further evils. Yes Obama supports abortion and that is terrible, but if I think someone is going to be irresponsible with our military, limit our freedoms, or cause an unjustified war then I will not vote for them. Many people will not vote for them, and we won’t feel any guilt for it either. McCains recent show of support for the idea of allowing the US military to indefinitely detain citizens does nothing but affirm me in my belief that I simply can not vote in conscience for the lesser evil.
You can say it as much as you want, but that doesn’t make it right. You aren’t thinking about proportionality. Just look at your sentence: “yes, Obama supports abortion and that is terrible, but…” But? Are you seriously saying that the foreign policy of Romney or Gingrich which you obviously disagree with is as morally grave and urgent as the issue of the sanctity of life contained in the abortion issue? You have your priorities out of whack. Allow Obama another four years and two more justices and expect abortion on demand to be the law of the land in all fifty states for another generation or longer. When that happens don’t complain because you will have blown your chance to prevent that out of a misguided belief that our civil liberties are in some kind of imminent collapse. John McCain wants to detain us all! Therefore allow the guy who wants to cement abortion on demand to be the law of the land - Obama - win the election. Those who support Ron Paul are letting the perfect (what they think is perfect) to be the enemy of the good, or even letting the perfect be the enemy of letting evil flourish. Abortion and a senate bill supported by McCain are not of equal gravity. The only way for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing. Or for good people to cling to the “perfect” candidate with no chance of winning.

To the OP, I imagine RP would rather each state handle their own affairs. Why is the federal government involved in the first place? Is your state particularly incapable of solving their own problems? I don’t find Washington DC to be filled with particularly bright people who solve problems well.

The world should fear more a country that not only has them, but has also demonstrated the will to use them on civilians.
If you’re referring to America, keep in mind that we had a monopoly on nuclear weapons for years and obviously didn’t use them. Think about that- we were the only country for years that had them, and then we had overwhelming superiority for years and didn’t use them. So why should we fear?
