Well, since Ron Paul seems to hate Jews, maybe they both have something in common.
Stawman.
Ron Paul’s position is based on the Constitution and historical sense,
Michele Bachman’s view is based on fundamentalist dispensational theology.

**DUPLICATE THREAD ALERT **
(I already mentioned this on Saturday morning on the “Can Ron Paul Win?” thread)
Big deal. That thread is based on an article about Ron Paul’s chances of winning. Your post in that thread does not constitute a duplicate thread because this thread is about his comments on Jay Leno’s show.

At about 14 minutes or so in he talks about how we should help Israel. I don’t recall him ever talking about how we need to disarm them, or sanction them, or plan for preemptive strikes against them.

Some people equate a balanced Middle Eastern policy, and a non-interventionalist view with being anti-semitic. They are afraid to take a step back and look at the whole picture.

Wonder what?
Whether there is anything to what Ron Paul said…

I am not sure she “hates” Muslims, but her apparent eagerness to go to war with Iran, based on her wild accusations, indicate at least a willful disregard for the catastrophic consequences to the world such a war policy would bring about.

And, some people accuse conservatives who are concerned about Iran of “hating Muslims.” Perhaps, they are incapable of seeing others’ views as based on reason.

So, you do hate Jews?

Given the outrageous statements she has made about Iran,
  • Iran has stated that it wants to “wipe Israel off the face of the earth” (a distortion)
  • Iran is working on a nuclear weapon (a totally unproven assertion)
  • as soon as Iran gets a nuclear weapon, it will use it to attack Israel and threaten the United States (a wild accusation totally without factual basis - one cannot even reasonably infer such an intention from what the Iranians have said)
it does make one wonder…
If this is a distortion, what exactly has the leader of Iran stated with regard to Israel? Bachmann sometimes gets her facts wrong but since I’ve heard others report this, I really would like to find out what was actually said, if anything.

Sure. Middle East expert Juan Cole, who speaks Farsi, had this to say when A’jad’s “threat to wipe Israel off the map” surfaced. It’s a mistranslation, a mistranslation some American politicians are all too willing to accept

Excerpt…

As most of my readers know, Ahmadinejad did not use that phrase in Persian. He quoted an old saying of Ayatollah Khomeini calling for ‘this occupation regime over Jerusalem” to “vanish from the page of time.’ Calling for a regime to vanish is not the same as calling for people to be killed. Ahmadinejad has not to my knowledge called for anyone to be killed. (Wampum has more; as does the American Street).

*If Ahmadinejad is a genocidal maniac who just wants to kill Jews, then why are there 20,000 Jews in Iran with a member of parliament in Tehran? Couldn’t he start at home if that was what he is really about? *

Thank you both gsjndad and rig for the information and links.

I wasn’t aware there are 20,000 Jews living in Iran today. Years ago, I knew an Iranian Jewish American who told me the living conditions of Iranian Jews were awful, but that was under the Ayatollah Khomeini.

^^ Well, you can’t blame the state-sponsored media - we know what to expect from them, but I find it really disturbing that Republicans don’t seem to mind too much when the threat comes from within their own party. (Remember the Bush days…)

The total media blackout on this is*** very disturbing***. Drudge has been linking to it. but that’s it. This is a very serious threat to our liberties.
Last week the Congress basically shredded the Bill of Rights.
But hey!! False News has major story on Dancing with the Stars!!
👍

I am not a fan of Ron Paul and this has only confirmed by view. To make slanderous comments is a step too far. Even if he does not agree with Michelle Bachmann and her views on the nuclear situation in Iran, to say she hates Muslims when she never said anything like that, is something that I would expect from somebody on MSNBC maybe, not from a fellow Republican candidate.

MODERATOR NOTICE

Please charitably discuss the issues, not each other

The only comments I’ve seen by Bachmann in regards, is where she state’s not all Cultures are equal, and equates it to Radical Jihadists. Which I think was the only public statement.

All the Ron Paul supporters need to remember that they need convince others to vote for their man. They seem incapable of doing that. And no, that isn’t meant as an insult to them.

They either preach to the choir or try to bully non belivers.

Again, I DO NOT mean to insult anyone. Its just what I noticed.

What? Being told you are a partisan, unintelligent, Muslim-hating, neocon sheep duped by the GOP doesn’t convince you to vote for him? Huh… 😉

I tend to think that for politicians like Michele Bachmann, being accused of hating Muslims would actually be a compliment of sorts since this label of her being anti-Muslim would certainly resonate with a lot of her supporters.

Her noticably nonchalant response to this accusation of her hating Muslims does seem to confirm this.
You mean the “I don’t hate Muslims; I love Americans” quote? Yeah, that was pretty bad.
