Can Ron Paul win?

But Paul can’t win. 😉

I’m wondering when this argument dies.
Don’t get your hopes up (or the anti-Paul folks out there, don’t despair). This is a caucus state and the anti-Romney vote is being split up between 3 candidates, that is why Paul is at the top. Nationally, this won’t last. Paul won’t be the Republican candidate for POTUS. He is a Libertarian, not a Republican. Nationally he still polls in the low numbers. What you are seeing is the “not Romney” votes shaking out. But they aren’t going to settle on Paul. He is just too strange for the average Republican. Even in Iowa, this may be as high as he gets. See: realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/republican_presidential_nomination-1452.html

Those are almost the best numbers Mitt Romney could hope for, with 44 percent of voters choosing an anti-Romney conservative (Gingrich, Santorum, Bachmann or Perry) but none of them mustering enough support to overcome Romney or Paul, whose support comes largely from non-traditional GOP primary voters.

I think whoever said that the Ron Paul people either preach to the choir or bully others into voting for them hit it out the park. Convince me into voting for him-don’t tell me how stupid I am for not doing so.

As I pointed out earlier after, I believe it was Ishii said that, no matter how civil you or I try to keep our discussions. I can not stop person C from coming in and rattling the cage no more than we can stop Obama supporters from coming in and telling us how uneducated we are for not voting for Obama.

All I’ve got to say though, watch that video that Brian posted. I thought it was pretty amazing.

Of course he can win. He is running. Anyone who is running can win. It sickens me when people’s argument is “I would vote for him but he can’t win.” If everyone who says/ said that voted for him, he can win.

This is a video compiled by Veterans for Ron Paul released a week ago. It is awesome and literally brought me to tears. As the video says, please watch it in its entirety. The “I like Ron Paul except his foreign policy” statement is old and worn ragged.

He’s the only peace candidate. Done. What else is there to talk about?

Second poll in confirming Paul is ahead in IA

Insider Advantage Paul 24, Romney 18, Gingrich 13, Perry 16, Bachmann 10, Santorum 3, Huntsman 4,

Previous poll from yesterday:

PPP (D) Paul 23, Romney 20, Gingrich 14, Perry 10, Bachmann 10, Santorum 10, Huntsman 4,

and in Romney country we find:
New Hampshire: Romney 35, Paul 19, Gingrich 17, Huntsman 13, Bachmann 5, Santorum 3, Perry 2, Johnson 1: t.co/NNr9JlFt
At this pace Perry, Bachmann, or Santorum could finish ahead of Gingrich in IA. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gingrich falters there to then see his numbers further plummet once NH comes to bat. Paul could win IA as these polls suggest. Or Romney could take both IA and NH and be on his way to the nomination much as John Kerry was in 04 after winning the first 2 on the Democratic side.

While I don’t think Paul is going to win the nomination either, even if this is as high as he gets in Iowa, it might be enough to take the caucus.

Agreed.

Ok, do you really feel that saying he’s the only peace canidate “done” will really work for people who don’t want to vote for him? Really? If you believe that-fine, it’s your right. However, if you want to convince someone to vote for him, try another line of reasoning.

Eventually, it’s your loss-if you can’t convince people to vote for him, he’ll lose.

Because I don’t have anything better to do at the moment, I took the time to go through each of the three or four posts you have in all 17 or so pages of this thread and I can not find one post that was any different than his. Nothing with any substance, all rhetoric.

So please, be my guest and provide us with some substance on why we should vote for Bachmann over Paul.

Why is Bachmann right on foreign policy, when she’s said things that are blatantly false?

Your sarcasm is lost on me. Iran with a nuclear weapon is a nightmare. Israel would be in mortal danger…no one would be safe. Iran’s leaders WANT a confrontation…their theology demands it…martyrdom is in their constitution. To assert that Iran with a nuke is no real danger goes beyond naive…it’s dangerous.
The world should fear more a country that not only has them, but has also demonstrated the will to use them on civilians.

On Jay Leno, Ron Paul again refuses to say he opposes gay marriage, refuses to say he would defend marriage if the courts order gay marriage, and again reiterates his personal hobbyhorse that he would prefer if marriage were not a legal status:

nomblog.com/16875/?sf2769649=1

In comparison, Romney, Gingrich, Bachmann, Santorum and Perry have signed the NOM Marriage pledge. Ron Paul has not signed.

NOM’s marriage pledge commits the candidates to:
Code:
* Support an amendment to the United State Constitution defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman;
* Appointing Supreme Court Justices and an Attorney General who will apply the original meaning of the Constitution;
* Vigorously defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act in court;
* Establish a presidential commission on religious liberty; and
* Advance legislation to return to the people of the District of Columbia their right to vote on marriage.

Yep, typical Libertarian/Democratic line. He isn’t a Republican.
He’s a Libertarian, but he’s doing the smart thing by running as a republican-third parties are only successful on the internet!
