It has never entered my mind that vaccines might be though immoral until I read one of the posts in this thread (thread). This is due to my parents being completely for vaccines and I have never heard the other side of the story. Please keep arguments within Catholic teachings.

Thanks and God Bless!

As far as I’m aware, the process of making some (or most, I haven’t got the statistics) vaccines involves stem cells from aborted foetuses, apparently due to lack of funding to do it any other way. Naturally that’s against Church teaching on the right to life of the unborn. 😛

Several days ago one of our main and very prolific posters here at CAF posted an article which decried the urban legend concerning the fetal stem cell issue. I can’t find the thread right now, but hopefully someone else can enlighten us!

Vaccines do not come from aborted fetuses.
Technically, no, vaccines do not come from aborted fetuses. Cells from aborted fetuses, however, have been used to grow the viruses which are then weakened and made into vaccines. My wording here is my own and not intended to be scientifically accurate, except in the fact that cells from aborted fetuses certainly have been used in the early process of creating different vaccines.

This article – “Vaccines, Abortion, and Fetal Tissue” – has information and references for further review on the matter.

How about “not changing your body that god has designed” as a justification to not get vaccinations? … plastic surgery (augmentation, facelifts tummy tucks) is condemned as well as vasectomies, tattoos and piercings…

Just a thought. 🤷

This does not reflect Catholic understanding on the subject at all. 🤷

IF you find it post it. Because it is common knowledge the MMR vac. lines come from fetuses aborted in the 50s. The names of the “Donors” are even public knowledge.

Catholics are against science? 🤷

If you think that vaccines are controversial today, you should have seen the uproar when they first started to become popular, right when the world population was about to explode.

Also, in today’s world, there are many who believe that autism is the result of vaccines in children.

Mercury, the cells of aborted children…other dangerous ingredients

The key to preventing disease is a strong immune system, not injecting poison into the body.

I am 73. When I was only about 5, I got pneumonia. I can still hear the doctor telling my mom, “He has to go to the hospital.” Penicillin had been discovered but a method of mass production hadn’t yet been found until the year before.

I don’t know if you have ever had a penicillin shot, but they don’t hurt that much right away; it takes about a day before they become painful; and they stay painful for about 5 days. I had to have one every 4 hours, 24 hours a day for three weeks. I remember being awakened in the middle of the night to the nurse saying, “Time for your shot.” They hurt so much I still remember screaming as the nurse carried me to a new ward.

If there had been no “poison”, being injected into my body, I would never have seen this side of 6 years old.

People who are Catholic can object to vaccines for a variety of reasons. Personally held beliefs can impact what a Catholic decides is right for them and their children, regardless of whether it is morally wrong or not. if it is found to be made from a source that the Church holds as morally wrong, ie: fetal stem cells, of course would be morally wrong for any Catholic. However, Catholics may prefer personally that no foreign chemicals be injected. Count me in that group. No thanks, not interested.
🙂

Did the shot contain mercury or formalydihide? It wasn’t poison…it was the treatment. It wasn’t a vaccine, was it?

I am still trying to figure out how mercury prevents measles or chicken embryos prevent…hepatitis or whatever else they give vaccines for.

Nope - God “designed” our bodies to respond, react, change, adapt to threats.

BTW - you do understand that the Catholic Church does not teach “Intelligent Design”

  1. It’s not pure mercury. It’s just like the stuff they put in many eye drops. Link
  2. It’s a preservative - it helps preserve the rest of the stuff in the vaccine.

The above posters have stated great reasons for opposition to vaccines.
In addition to those, I am opposed to mandated vaccines. My sister almost died from a flu vaccination she received five years ago. Thank God she lived. She still has lingering health problems because of this.

My workplace mandates that all employees receive the flu vaccination yearly.
I refuse to take the risk and get it because I am genetically similar to my sister. Fortunately.
the place I work allows me to wear a mask for six months out of the year.

I am opposed to those companies that won’t allow you to work there at all without
receiving a yearly flu vaccination.

Right. I’m 5 years old, and I’m supposed to ask that?

Maybe it’s like dynamite that’s used for heart problems. I guess you need to do some medical research.
