A few days ago, I came across this beautiful icon depicting (I think) Our Lady’s Assumption into Heaven. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the exact title of it.
There is a traditional icon of the Bodily Assumption (as opposed to Dormition) of Our Lady. It depicts her rising on a cloud, possibly with an escort of angels; St. Thomas is shown at the bottom holding her girdle.
This is not actually true Eastern icon but an Italian painting in the style of Eastern icons. The angels are holding scolls in Italian writing. The name of such painting probably is simply Assunzione - or assumption in English. This is a westernization of the Icon of the Uspenije of the Mother of God:
The Eastern Orthodox and Catholics need to really start to realize that there is more than just their tradition of iconography!
This looks like an example of Latin Iconography. It is an icon of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is quite similar to this first millennium icon:
