A few days ago, I came across this beautiful icon depicting (I think) Our Lady’s Assumption into Heaven. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the exact title of it.

Thanks for sharing this lovely icon- I’ve never seen it before. Where did you find it? I’ve painted 3 icons myself. Hope you hear an answer!

Yes it is beautiful. I don’t know but thak you for sharing it. gierschie

There is more to iconography than mere technique.

Iconography is a liturgical, traditional art.

This does not look like either.

There is a traditional icon of the Bodily Assumption (as opposed to Dormition) of Our Lady. It depicts her rising on a cloud, possibly with an escort of angels; St. Thomas is shown at the bottom holding her girdle.

This clearly is not it.

Oh that is so beautiful! I will keep checking back to see if anyone knows the name! Where did you find it?
God Bless!
To Jesus, through Mary

This is not actually true Eastern icon but an Italian painting in the style of Eastern icons. The angels are holding scolls in Italian writing. The name of such painting probably is simply Assunzione - or assumption in English. This is a westernization of the Icon of the Uspenije of the Mother of God:

This westernized version looks like an icon of “the dormition of Mary” in the eastern tradition- is that different from the assumption?

Basically, “Dormition” and “Assumption” express the same truth, with different emphases.

In the Byanztine tradition, there are references to Our Lady’s bodily Assumption during the texts of the post-feast; remember the old “octaves”?

The Eastern Orthodox and Catholics need to really start to realize that there is more than just their tradition of iconography!

This looks like an example of Latin Iconography. It is an icon of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is quite similar to this first millennium icon:
