The word “truth” is used several times in the New Testament. However, the plural version of the word “truth” never appears in Scripture. Therefore, there can only be one Truth. So how can there be over ,32,000 non-Catholic Christian denominations all claiming to have the “Truth” (., the correct interpretation of the Bible)?

Well, if the one truth is the correct interpretation of the bible, you won’t find truth defined that way in the bible, as far as I know…

Bill Pick,

You actually have two questions:

The first - Can there be more than one interpretation of the Bible?

**CCC 115 **According to an ancient tradition, one can distinguish between two *senses *of Scripture: the literal and the spiritual, the latter being subdivided into the allegorical, moral and anagogical senses. The profound concordance of the four senses guarantees all its richness to the living reading of Scripture in the Church.

The second - Why is there so many denominations?

Sin - While many of our separated brethren retain some truth in their faith in Christ it is not the fullness of truth as proclaimed by Jesus Christ and handed down to the Apostles, then the Bishops and through the years through Apostolic Succession. For many of our good intentioned brethren - they mean well and trully beleive in their heart they are following Christ’s will for them. It really draws from a failure on our part to not only form our own children int he faith properly and live a life as Christ has willed of us, but also from a sinfully derelict of duty to evangelize.

Just because somebody says it’s true doesn’t mean it’s true…

Why are there so many denominations, is the way it used to be said. For some unknown reason, no one is using the word “are”.

Is there an english teacher anywhere around?

I would like to know what is being taught in schools now. Everyone is making the same mistake with the words is and are.

Good question - off topic though.

Grammar was not taught while I was in school. I’m still learning thanks to those like yourself that are willing to correct me. Thank you.

You are welcome. Tell me though, is it the common practice in most schools not give instruction in grammar?

I don’t know - we had English. The emphasis was on literature and vocabulary. Sentence structure and grammar were not a priority. If I can remember correctly we may have spent a couple of weeks on it. But that was 25 years ago.

Why are you making a statement instead of a question? Sure, you put a question mark after it, but I think what your really saying is “Why do all them people lie, when his One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church has the truth?!”

I would answer this, if I thought it was a actual question, instead of a challenge to anyone who has a different opinoin.

Can there be more than one interpretation of the Bible? Of course. Can they all be correct? No.

How can RCs keep on talking about any number between 20.000-40.000 non-RC churches, without ever providing proof of this claim?

BareKnuckler, Its OK if you can not answer the question we don,t have to answer all questions,BTW Do you get out of school this year or must you go to summer school.

If you would have had my mother as an english teacher you would have learned grammar and spelling or you may have never graduated from Elementary, Jr High or High School , I know this for a fact, as she was even harder on me and my 3 sisters wiht English Grammar and spelling. Even our father who was English and an Oxford Graduate was very sever with us growing up, his favorate rant were History Science Math and Political Geography and family genealogy
as for the bible well we had the Duay and that was it no others allowed

Just a reminder ladies and gentlemen, grammar is not the topic of this thread…

It’s been answered here before - do a search and you’ll find it. Here’s a link to one of the poster’s own website

Your premise is wrong - they have - several times - and it’s pretty common knowledge in regards to splintering of Christ’s Body. Unless you live in Rural America - pull out a phone book and it’s obvious what sin is doing to Jesus Christ’s Church.

I’m assuming you are Lutheran - even the Lutheran Church has split over and over again.

HAHA, I love you Bill.

This is akward, I guess I made the statement I’d have to go to summer school? Well, no, I got out of summer school since I Aced all my classes except 1, which was Art, I got a C in it, which was better then what I had at the begining.

😃

Are you also conceeding, then, that there is not ONE RC church, but 242 - as this website says?

If you’re not, then your argument falls.

This website totally ignores the fact that the vast majority of the different denominations it mentions is not a completely seperate church, on either an organizational level, or doctrinal. Most share basic theological tenets, and have some kind of co-operation where possible.

By using the same kind of reasoning, I could make the claim that there was thousands upon thousands of RC churches in the US alone - because there are RC assemblies scattered across the US. The fact that most of them are under the leadership of diocesan bishops, etc, would then be irrelevant, just as it appears to be irrelevant for the creators of this website.

You probably just read my information, am I right?
All Lutheran churches that I know of share a common foundation in the Ancient Symbols (Apostolicum, Nicaenum and Athanasium), as well as the Lutheran Confessions, including the Book of Concord. The only execption that comes to mind is the state church here in DK, which does not have the BoC as a confessional writing (for reasons too lenghty to start explaining here).

Btw - nice source you’re using. Does this mean that people should also look to Jack Chick for credible and reliable information about the RCC?
The website is biased in favor of the RCC, and is therefore not a good source.
