can we have a discussion with Muslims without getting angry

The first part of your argument is based on how firmly you believe that your understanding of Islam is the correct and only understanding (this is clear, having cited yourself as an authority in support of your posts as opposed to mine - see #182 and #199); I do not claim to occupy such an honoured position - but, when I offer examples of initiatives which do not fit in to your picture of Islam, they are rejected as lacking authenticity.
Correct, because you’ve yet to prove a connection between what you offer as ‘evidence’ and Islam.

If I said “Moslems love animals, because I saw two pat a dog”, how would this relate to them acting as Moslems? It wouldn’t unless I could show some Sura, or other authority saying “Be kind to animals” or some such thing.

You seem to take some degree of umbrage that I go to lengths to provide evidence for what I state; including citing Islamic experts.
As for the second part, ask the people who are doing this day-in, day-out by contacting the organisation above, since I cannot speak as to their specific principles, but only witness to what they are doing.
You’re not just observing, but interpreting. You’d interpret “Moslems must be kind to dogs” if you observed the above example - that’s an interpretation.
Hear me, I do not reject the position that there exists an Islam which ‘we’ find abhorrent; I do reject suggestions that this is all that there is to Islam; I reject suggestions that this Islam ‘damns’ all Muslims by association and thus, that Christians and Muslims cannot or should not work together.
To me Islam’s stated aims are quite clear. It’d be like if Chamberlain had only read Mein Kampf he’d have realised that any statements of co-operation were mere smokescreens. Sure many Germans wanted peace, but Nazi ideology did not. Same with Islam… Islam’s only desire for ‘peace’ is if everyone submits to Islam. They’re called to do this by their god, al-Lah.

I apprecitate you want peace. It should not be appeasement.

In response to mister CPD (copy-paste drone),

Are you finished now??
 I know! If Khlafan thinks I am going to read that, he’s got another think coming!
Why can’t anyone put something succinctly anymore? All they can do is cut and paste what someone else said?
I blame the schools myself:p

Now I understand your real problem. Don’t worry about Christianity, but knowing the truth is not a sin. Still, Christians do that sin, because they know that GOD paid for it.
I don’t believe God ‘paid’ for it.

The old testament contains several prophecies that apply only to the Prophet Muhammad.
Utter rot! There are prophecies in the NT that apply to Muhammad - they’re about the Anti-Christ.
In any case, I thought the OT and NT had been corrupted? Apparently not very efficiently?

The reason is that Islam fears the Truth, because Islam is a political, and not a religious, movement, and the currency of political things is POWER over the people, not power from the people…
That is a very true statement! Islam is a political ideology masquerading as a “religion”. Many people don’t realize it and it is completely incompatible with our way of life.

khalfan,

Not convincing. Of course I would have to write a book to refute each fallacy. But note the choices given to us kaffir. We can convert, pay extortion to be allowed slave status, or be killed. We know what the quran says.

I brought up the problems of the redaction of the quran. We don’t know if it contains anything muhammed said. There are scholars who believe chunks were lost and that the quran you have now has been altered.

It comes down to who we should believe. Jesus, who never had sex with little girls or killed anyone. Or muhammed who did do those things. Who is most likely to be from God?

I reject islam not out of bias, but because I understand it.

jack hawkins,

I see my signature struck a special chord with you… Must say, I’m quite flattered. It would have been more interesting if your analogy made any sense though. 😃

Thanks to all who have participated in this thread. It is now closed.
