Sure. It is more complex than we like to make it seem.

Can you be a good Republican and vote Democrat like John Kasich?

Can you be a good catholic and a democrat and support the democrat party?
You could support aspects of it, but our loyalty is to the Church, not a political party. THAT said, because, whilst there are pro-life Democrats that hold political office in the United States, the party overwhelmingly supports abortion at the federal level. I am assuming you are talking about democrats in the United States, as other nations have democratic parties.

Yes you can be but in my opinion at some point it’s best to abandon a sinking ship as far as its morality goes.

One can be a good Catholic and a Democrat.

What exactly do you mean by “Support the Democratic Party”?

I am a good Catholic and a Democrat. That doesn’t mean I applaud everything the party does, support every candidate they put forward, or donate money to their party. I would be happy to support their party doing things I agree with and that do not create moral dilemmas for me regarding Catholic teaching.

I’d also like to point out that we have probably 500 past threads on this question already…

No.
reason: they support abortion.
Not a republican (not even american) but democrats is not a choice due their relationship with abortion.

by voting Democrat, you enable abortion, the entire LGBT agenda, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, transgenderism, identity politics, the destruction of the family, contraception, socialism, breaking the seal of the confession, forced abortions in catholic hospitals, liberal judges who will uphold these policies, etc

all of which are against Catholic teaching

you tell me, can you be a good catholic and support these anti-catholic policies?

They support abortion.

While one may only support those aspects that do not, doesn’t such support still enable the party to continue in its pro-death path?

Abortion has been established law for decades. It was enabled by the Supreme Court under a Republican administration.

LGBT agenda? You mean equal rights?

. It was enabled by the Supreme Court under a Republican administration.
And?
Where it may or may not have come from is immaterial to the current situation.
The democratic party, at this point in time, is fully behind abortion.
I believe they have encoded it into their party platform.

Lending the party support helps them further this.

it doesn’t matter. It is established law. To reduce abortion now we must look to non-legislative means…like more support for pregnant women, young mothers and children.

Is pro-life only about opposing abortion? Or is it about supporting all human life?
Is it really relevant given the party’s support of abortion?
Given the support they give to abortion, and how tightly bound they have made themselves to it, I am not certain anyone can consider the party a viable option.

Abortion is arguably the most important moral issues our world today faces. Voting for a candidate who supports this and will attempt to make it easier/more readily available for women is morally reprehensible.

It is important but it lacks actionable proximity. So many other issues that are also important can be acted upon immediately.

legal murder is still wrong, the court has been wrong before
LGBT agenda? You mean equal rights?
no, forced acceptance of their lifestyle, like performing operations on healthy people, forcing a person to do things they don’t agree with like take pictures at an LGBTQ wedding, forcing a catholic hospital to perform abortions, forcing a catholic adoption group to put kids where they believe they will be taught anti-catholic beliefs, etc.

this isn’t equal rights, this is forced exception of an anti-catholic policy.
Is pro-life only about opposing abortion?
yes, it was for years. the left moved the goal post to make it more appealing to the masses.
So to be really pro-life, you have to love and respect everybody—not just the unborn, but those who are already here and those you may not like or agree with. Love them all, respect them all, protect them all.
wrong
it is pro-life versus pro-death, the other ills don’t cause immediate death.

the issue isn’t only to reduce, the democrats want to expand abortion by, allowing abortions up, until, and just after birth (infanticide), they will codify roe forcing all states to allow unlimited free abortions, rescinding the Mexico City policy and federally paying for abortions. this will increase abortions here and worldwide. there were 50 million abortions worldwide in 2014
like more support for pregnant women, young mothers and children.
abortion will become a form of birth control when it is free and unlimited. look at Europe it is acceptable as birth control now in some countries.

death of the child is final, that is why it is the preeminent issue.

everything else is just a different way to a specific goal.

expansion of abortion is the issue.

Yes, the preeminent issue. I agree. But I don’t think the trade off with so many other issues has been worth it these last four years.
