Can you get coronavirus twice?

By Bradford Betz | Fox News

As health officials around the world scramble to fight the coronavirus pandemic, many questions about its effect on the immune system remain unanswered. . . .

. . . Studies suggest that otherwise healthy patients who recover from COVID-19 are likely to be immune from catching the virus again.

Through a process of “immune memory,” the immune system of recovered patients will cause antibodies to quash a pathogen from infecting the body again if it is detected.

Still, some microbes are not as easily detected, and immunity against these viruses can wane in a few months. Which begs the question: can people become infected with the coronavirus twice? At this early stage of research, no consensus has been reached.

In South Korea earlier this week, 51 people who recovered from the coronavirus were reported to have tested positive again. . . .

Yes I heard. People test negative too and then, finally, a positive comes in.

My poor sister in law has been sick for 26 days with all the symptoms of the virus. She’s perfectly healthy with no underlying conditions and was a professional runner. She got tested on Sunday, but she said she felt great on Sunday, it was her best day and she had no symptoms. The results came back negative for flu, strep and for COVID-10. On Monday she was back to having a slight fever, body aches, chest tenderness and coughing. The poor thing has been isolated for almost a month and has really no answers. I think she registered a false-negative. She has no idea when it will be safe for her to emerge from isolation. Some days are great and some are not so great. I read there is some concern with those testing negative, but who most likely are infected when they have all the typical symptoms but get tested when not exhibiting symptoms.

It has been suggested that there are multiple strains of Covid-19 out there and it may be that there is little to no cross immunity between them.
