It seems that the CC treats the Baptism performed by John the Baptist as a baptism other than the Sacrament of Baptism currently performed by Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants. The scriptures seem to indicate that some people who received John’s baptism were rebaptized later by the Apostles or the early church.
- Is this correct?
- What, exactly, did this baptism do? Did it actually remit sins?
- Can a person still receive this baptism today, or did it die with John or his immediate followers?
