Do you do the Confession before or after the SD session, if you do not mind me asking. Is there a a better choice to do it either after or before the session?
Either has its advantages. I prefer at the end because:
a) something might have come up during the session which I hadn’t considered before but which I would like to confess
b) in the case of particular sins, I don’t have to go into all the circumstances twice. I can talk about them in the SD session and then in confession just say ‘I did x’ without having to detail the particulars again.

OTOH, the main advantage of confessing first is that if (like me) you like to more or less memorise what you’re going to say in confession, you can have that ready just before the session and go. I find that when I try to remember my examination of conscience at the end I sometimes forget something.

I think I will confess at the End. I will make sure to write my stuff down on a piece of paper so I will not forget. Thank you.

It sounds like you’re trying to have everything be totally planned out. Relax! The whole idea behind spiritual direction is to be open to the movement of the Holy Spirit.
