A chance for a change up in Canada?
**Canada’s Government Toppled **
Monday, November 28, 2005

TORONTO — A corruption scandal forced a vote of no-confidence Monday that toppled Prime Minister Paul Martin’s minority government, triggering an unusual election campaign during the Christmas holidays.

Canada’s three opposition parties, which control a majority in Parliament, voted against Martin’s government, claiming his Liberal Party no longer has the moral authority to lead the nation.

Maybe the citizens in Canada FINALLY got the message with the Liberal Government forcing an agenda that was ‘not acceptable’.
Let us pray that the Canadian Slippery Slope has come to an end.

The press really loves to emphasize the scandal.

Corruption and scandals are nothing new to government. Frankly… I’m kicking the man out over forcing homosexual marriage on us.

On the other hand, the Conservatives are going to make relationships better with the US, which is all well and good providing we try and avoid the whole mess concerning the war in Iraq. But more importantly, there’s stuff going about that the Conservatives are going pro-abortion. If that is true, then really, why should I bother voting at all? Maybe I’ll stay home this winter…

Then again, since abortion is already going on, voting for the Conservatives might be able to pull the notwithstanding clause against homosexual marriage, and we can always protest against abortion like we usually do. But it’s turning out that there are already problems with this happening:

Old news… but if it still holds true now, looks like either way… I lose…

Conservatives in my mind, will only make things better with the US because they will basically assimilate Canadians into Americans. As much as I hate the pro-homosexual marriage stance of the Liberals, I admire very much the candor and determination of Paul Martin in his stance against teh American tariffs and the some $5 million they owe us. Harper wouldn’t be so tough, I don’t think.

Now I have a question…Liberals are pro same sex, Conservatives might be pro-abortion, and its a sin to vote for a party supporting such activities. Should one not vote? Should one waste their ballot in a protest vote? As much as I hate the pro-same sex marriage stance of the Liberals, economically, they have done very well (minus the sponsorship scandal 😉 ) and I would still like to be called a Canadian, not a Camerican as Harper would make it.

Please vote. Please do not let your political voice not be heard. It might not be easy to pick your candidate. But please do so. Your vote is your voice. PLEASE VOTE!

What tarriffs? I thought NAFTA put a stake in the heart of all that.

It seems like your tone is that if one doesn’t seek ways to pick fights with America, then one is merely an American stooge. Is that what you mean?

Yes, there is much corruption in our government, Edwin1961…BUT please…there is much corruption in all government including the US! 😛

I am Canadian… I know, shocking isn’t it?

The impending election in Canada has me thirsting for change. There is on’t one party that doesn’t have policy that is directly opposed to the teachings of the Church. That is who I will vote for… the Conservative Party of Canada (Liberal).

Many Catholic Canadians have traditionally voted Liberal, but I forgive them, because I must believe that at one point the term had some association with liberty, and not libertinism. However, its time to start voting conscientiously… and that means that the Liberal Party (socialist) should be deprived of the votes of all Catholics.

I honestly don’t know many people who would actually vote for the New Democratic Party (Socialist). But, apparently some people do, or they wouldn’t be on national television all the time… right?

The Bloc Quebecois is really just a very large lobby group for the Canadian province of Quebec. They are a mix of all of the above parties, but what they really want is to opt out of the Federation and become their own country. I’m okay with that, but then, I never bought into that whole Federalist thing… I’m more of a small state, and even smaller government, guy.

Then there’s the Green Party… what can I say?

There are the issues: abortion, healthcare, homosexual marriage, taxes, Kyoto, gun registry, government reform (to stop the corruption that the Liberal Party is now famous for), and education. All of these are addressed in different ways by each party. Here’s how the Liberals and the Conservatives fare on these issues.

The Liberals are for abortion, for public healthcare only (apparently competition in a partially private healthcare scenario would somehow cause unfair treatment of the poor… which is more important than their lives. I have an analogy to help people understand why this is false reasoning, but I won’t get into it now), for homosexual marriage, not consistent on taxes (but still haven’t removed the temporary war tax that they promised to remove over twelve years ago), for the Kyoto agreement (in theory), for gun registry (even after literally billions have been wasted on it without results), for government reform (as long as it doesn’t mean that they have to change their habits), and for education (in theory… again, only for the votes, not in practice).

The Conservatives officially are neither for, nor against abortion, but wish to bring it to a vote in the future, so that, in the least, a decisin is come about democratically. They are for a public healthcare system suplimented by a closely regulated private system. They are against homosexual marriage. They want to lower taxes and put more money in Canadians’ pockets. They are against Kyoto, since its conclusions and demands are misproportioned at best, suggesting instead a Canadian solution to the “environmental problem”. They are against the gun registry, since it was a multi-billion dollar exercise in burocracy. They are all for government reform and the shrinking of government so that it doesn’t step on peoples’ toes as much as it does now (which it does… ask anyone who has done their own taxes, or has been caught bartering, etc.). Finally, I am not certain where they stand on education… but one would assume that they would be consistent with their positions taken on the other issues.

All in all I think it will be an interesting campaign. Come late January, I’ll have no problem getting up out of my warm bed to go down to the polls and hand in my ballot.

Up Canada! Down the Liberals!

God bless,

Agricola

PS
As to the issue of tarrifs… $5 million? I think there are some more important things to think about than that. What is most important at the present moment is that Canada be freed from the clutches of the “candid” Mr. Martin (who’s candour seems very limited… possibly only to this case?). The money that Canadian taxpayers will save by outing the Liberals will far exceed ten times the amount that my dear compatriot brought to light.

… as you can probably tell… I have no reservations about electing Mr. Harper.

Nice link Wander… Guess it’s turning out pretty good for the Conservatives in my eyes. Also there was the recent bit by Harper over finally getting rid of the GST, which I’m all for providing it’s financially sound for the country. If Quebec wants to fight for homosexual marriage, they can separate for all I care… recently there was a hilarious bit of news about how marriages are falling heavily in gay friendly Quebec…

In actual fact this is nothing unexpected or different from the Netherlands, Scandanavia or other European countries that adopted homosexual marriage long before. This, rather than help marriage as many gay supporters want you to think, actually destroyed it once and for all. After all the whole lead up was, separate procreation from sex, then sex from marriage, and finally the male female relationship from marriage, then you only get people to see how pointless marriage is, so instead they’ll opt to ‘co-habitate’ and have as many children as they want out of wedlock. Homosexual marriage was the final nail in the coffin. That’s the truth, but the news from Quebec tried to spin this as possibly some unconscious public form of protest against the policies of the Catholic Church! Hilarious… and sad…
