I just hope your elections aren’t the victim of “Exit Polls”! Boy I hate those, but it didn’t matter in our election in '04.
I don’t think we do exit polls here. Elections Canada is pretty bent on keeping election results secret until all the polls are closed. I know I’ve never heard of any exit polls in Canada.

I have to admit I don’t know what an exit poll is. Can someone explain?

A polling company polls voters as they are leaving the polling station on how they voted. During the US presidential election on '04 the exit polls weren’t even close to the actual results and had Kerry winning.

If memory serves, the cable companies even have to block American broadcasts carrying results from being fed to Canadian customers. I haven’t had cable for two elections, so I may be mistaken.
There is still radio. 😃

Apparently a US blogger will be posting results early at:

Elections Canada obviously can’t go after an American…
…but they might force the internet sevice provider to block access to offending sites. likely by forcing the ISP to mess up their Domain Name Servers [aka DNS] which would no longer direct you to 63.247.142.13 for your above address.🤓 So you could edit edit your hosts file with the correct numerical address with your favorite election info source and you’ll have less problems… maybe… hopefully. perhaps. until . . . da doom … da dooom… they are knocking on your door. auuuggghhhh.:whacky:

I’m glad you don’t have them.
For Ani,
An exit poll is one where the people leaving the polling place and are asked questions that would reveal who they voted for or where the voter was leaning towards which candate when they voted.

Be grateful you don’t have them!

Ani Ibi:
I’ll stand on the northshore of Lake Ontario and send across the results by semaphore.
lol!
since I’m on the south side of Lake Erie, I’ll have to get my bionoculars out.
Are you using Morse Code! :rotfl:

Here is a tip for my American friends: RCMP have red coats, wear flat hats, jodphurs, and ride horses. So if you see one coming down your street… run away!

There is no possible way they can police the internet. They will have their eyes on the TV networks and radio station for violators, but I think it’s much ado about nothing for bloggers…

Unless they’re baptized Sikhs, in which case they’ll be wearing a tan turban instead of the traditional Stetson.

Oh, and Disney owns their international marketing rights, so they may actually be wearing Mickey Mouse ears when travelling abroad.

Had to post it on election day:
**Canadian Liberals face loss after 12 years in power

By Randall Palmer

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Reuters) - Canadian political leaders on Sunday made one last cross-country dash on the eve of an election expected to oust the ruling Liberals, move Canada to the right and improve ties with the United States.

With polls showing a steady lead of 7 to 12 percentage points, the Conservatives sounded increasingly confident, though it looked like they would fall short of a majority in Parliament and have to depend on other parties.

Now we wait for the election results.

The RCMP get their man. That’s why they are the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Getting foxes can quite easily be done east of the Pond. Our foxes are safe. They drink cappoccino.
