Yesterday, I finished watching “Freaks and Geeks” on DVD. Truly, the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on TV. Unfortuately, it was only canceled after about twelve episodes on its original run. It seems that there are many good shows that end up getting scrapped before they catch on, although of course the bad ones probably outnumber them?

Any good shows you thought ended before their time?
 
Farscape (cancelled at the WORST possible time in the story!)
Joan of Arcadia
Dead Like Me (love this show, but only just discovered it on DVD, since I won’t pay extra to watch Showtime, HBO, etc)
Witchblade

Oh, and I almost forgot Keen Eddie. That was funny show that did not last long enough at all (maybe 13 episodes??).

For several years there have been rumours and speculation about it coming back - I would so love it if it were true, but I fear not 😃
 
Bernie Mac show. An outrage it got cancelled and not even allowed to have a proper ending! The best and funniest show for showing how to deal with kids.

I thought they were bringing it back – confirm the news before you get too happy though – i would hate to spread a false rumor:

On June 22, 2006, Comedy Central officially announced that they have ordered 13 new episodes of the series

Off the top of my head, there are two TV series that I believe were cancelled before their time: “Dead like Me” and “Daria”.

Dead like Me was neither consistent with Catholic theology nor offensive of it. It was just so enjoyable watching our five grim reapers deal with life after life, and watching how their characters developed. And who could not like that sarcastic, pouty-faced Georgia “George” Lass, played brilliantly by Ellen Muth!

Daria was simply my favorite animated show of all time. OK, yes it was a production of MTV animation, and yes it was a spinoff from Beavis and Butthead. Daria was nothing like B&B, however (no mention of them was ever made in Daria). It was a pleasure to watch as she meandered her way through the stereotypes that surround her at home, at school, and everywhere else there are people who do not use their brains. For anyone who has ever seen Daria, I will say that Timothy O’Neal is dangerously close (in character and in intelligence) to many of the priests, nuns, and lay teachers that I myself had to deal with during 12 years of Catholic school.

The three F’s: “Futurama”, “Firefly”, “Farscape”.

Fortunately all three are now on DVD in their entirety. We’re amassing our collection. 🙂

I agree with the OP, “Freaks and Geeks” was a fun, well-written and acted show. Would have been nice to see more of it. I also wouldn’t have minded another season or two of “My So-Called Life”.
 
I kinda liked that “Smith” show on CBS, even though it was a bit raw and violent. I didn’t like that part of it but the theft scenes and the espionage element were interesting IMHO.
Anyone remember “Profit”? Strange and twisted but I liked that too. :o
 
Dead Like Me, Futurama, and Firefly. DH really liked Hawaii from a year or so back.
