O Christ Redeemer,
you placed in the heart of Mother Catherine
Aurelia of the Precious Blood
an ardent desire to work for the salvation of souls
by a life of prayer and penance.
You called her to found a new contemplative Community

I have been praying a prayer to her for a long time myself. I have 2 books on her - bios - I got from the sisters.

I wish there was at least one community that still wore the full traditional habit of Mother Catherine. It’s a shame the habit of this order has been modified so much.

As there are many “traditional” vocations and many traditional orders are getting vocations, I wonder if one or more did revert back to the full traditional habit of Mother Catherine if they would get more vocations?

When I was in the OCDS (that’s the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites), a member of the group I was in had a daughter in the Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood. She was (and still is) in their monastery in New Hampshire. And I believe the daughter is the Vocation Directress for their community.

Once, during my time working in the local Catholic bookstore, the mother and daughter came in, and I waited on them. The daughter was not dressed in her habit; she wore street clothes.

That was a bit disconcerting to me. I thought the Sisters Adorers were cloistered, I said to myself that day.

Yes, it is a shame that they modified their habit so much. I’ve seen pictures of the communities in Brooklyn and Watertown, NY on the Institute of Religious Life website (religiouslife.com), and almost all the Sisters are elderly and few in number. I’m afraid that sooner or later, one or the other of these monasteries may have to close or merge for lack of vocations.
