I feel guilt over a past sin I committed where I fell into lust and ruined my bodily innocence along with the person I committed lust with.

It’s hard for me to get over it and view myself as innocent;

When you murder somebody, at least they will be brought back to life in the afterlife.
When you steal something, it can be returned.

But no matter how hot and torturous the fires in purgatory are, they will never give someone their bodily innocence back. And that’s what really bothers me.

It kind of is a sad thing to lose the virginal state. It is good to have recourse to the Blessed Virgin Mary in times of temptation.

OP, go to confession and talk to your priest. If this happened recently, vow not to repeat what you have done.

Jesus forgave you totally when you confessed this sin and were absolved. (If you haven’t confessed yet then go do that ASAP.)

If you truly wish to imitate Jesus, you will forgive yourself too.
Think of the whole thing as an exercise in humility.

Go to confession and confess this sin. The love of Christ is not dependent on virginity. Think of how Jesus treated the woman at the well and the woman caught in adultery. Yeah, it’s sad that your virginity is gone. But heaven will rejoice at your repentance and Jesus will love you no less.

However, in the Resurrection, on the Last Day, we are given renewed and glorified bodies.

Be at peace.

You can’t unscramble an egg.
What’s done is done.
Many people feel that way - the next day.

You know, if you believe that the spirit of Evil prompted you to do this (and the spirit of Evil, Satan exists, Christ referenced him), I might offer to you that he is now enjoying your prolonged guilt over your action. You fell, one time, but if you keep us this “can’t get over it” attitude, he is winning over and over again. Forgive yourself, Christ does. Resolve to step up to a higher and more noble understanding of the proper use of your sexuality, seek God’s forgiveness (that is always forthcoming) and get on with your life. Stop handing Satan a lifetime of victory in your ongoing shame/guilt.
Shalom

If you have been absolved, then your sin and guilt are both gone. However, you are allowed to mourn.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

But, I would not allow that mourning to dampen the joy that you have in Christ. Many here - myself included - have committed far far worse sins against purity. A disordered amount or degree of mourning risks drawing you into despair - the sin of Judas. Don’t go there!

Remember what our Lord said about those who look back once hand is set to plow? We are to learn from the past, but look forward in faith, hope and love.

Full story, bro’
