I’ve got a question. Say you commit a mortal sin, but can’t get to confession for another week (for genuine reasons, not that you just don’t want to go). What do you do? Thanks!
Pray to Jesus for forgiveness, then see the priest as soon as possible. In the meantime, however, it is best not to step in fromt of any MACK trucks…I forgot one of the most important parts. Oops.
See, one of my friends is a non-Catholic and we were talking about sin, and I was explaining venial/mortal and said (which I think is correct) that if you die with unconfessed mortal sin then you go to Hell. He asked me the question I just asked.
So what I’m really asking is, if you can’t get to confession and you have committed a mortal sin, but you plan on going as soon as you can, is their nothing you can do between then and now? If you die that’s it? I’ve heard some things about ‘perfect contrition’. If you have perfect contrition are you forgiven on the condition that you go to Confession asap? Thanks.

We have a fair and just God. If the Lord knows that you are sincerely contrite for having offended Him, and that you plan to confess the sin at the next opportunity, then it is reasonable to not fear hell. But you should not receive the Eucharist until you have gone to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.I forgot one of the most important parts. Oops.
