…,"According to an August 2008 directive from the Vatican, the name Yaweh was no longer permitted to be used in the liturgy or music, and that this hymn had been modified, or words to that effect.
My question to you all,is why? What’s wrong with Yaweh? Just nosy really, but I’m sure the Vatican has some reason for the directive.
Jesus must have used YHWH – however it is pronounced in Hebrew and Greek.
AT John 17:26 he said in prayer to his father: “I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it…”
That fits with the Our Father prayer Jesus taught, where he put God’s name being glorified ahead of the Kingdom and God’s will! It must have been important to him.
The name of God, is found in the original manuscripts of the Bible thousands of times. Sometimes in Psalms and hymms meant to be sung by large crowds. Therefore pronounced.
Yes, among the traditions the Jews and Pharisees had developed, there was a superstition that the name of God must not be pronounced, - what did Jesus think of their traditions?
“You have made the word of God invalid because of your tradition.” Matthew 15:6.
Because they had gone so far from the truth – the Jewish nation was rejected as Jehovah’s chosen people. (Matt. 21:43)
And a new nation – a spiritual nation was chosen. Acts 15:14 calls it “a people for his name.”
Be very careful if you find yourself being forbidden to do things you know the Bible allows and encourages. Especially if the reasons are human traditions and superstitions.
Look up what our Lord Jesus said at Matthew 15:8,9.

As a Jehovah’s Witness, of course, you just believe that Jesus was a very nice guy, but not God, so it makes sense that whatever he would do should also be done by very nice people. That’s not a position the rest of us will ever be able to identify with, friend. Personally, I can’t imagine how anyone could be a Jehovah’s Witness any more than a Scientologist, but I hope you stick around and have the scales pulled from your eyes. 🙂
