It’s not all bad news folks.

**
The state Senate voted Monday, 19-10, to bar the Department of Environmental Quality from enacting or enforcing any new rules designed to deal with climate change.**

This will also allow them to sue the EPA for violating states’ rights.

A few years ago, I considered moving my family to Arizona. It’s starting to look even more attractive. Is there any way they can get rid of McCain first though? 😃

Global warning resulting from an increase in greenhouse gases is well-documented and is accepted by an overwhelming majority of scientists who have studied the issue. Big energy producers and consumers, who bankrolled the Republicans, have perpetuated the non-scientific, stick-your-head-in-the-sand approach of ignoring the scientific consensus and denying global warming. It’s finally time for us to do something to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Cap and Trade seems like a rational way to do it.

I guess CA forums are the domain of Republican Catholics. Every other posting on this thread looks like it was ginned up by Rush Limbaugh. Thought the rational, scientifically-based position needed a voice.

Yay! though I am not sure if I agree cap and trade is the way to do it. Or maybe not this particular bill but then again I really donlt know.

This isn’t about debating global warming/cooling/climate change.

Cap and trade hides its primary function- wealth redistribution- by flying the flag of a more politically expedient “climate change” movement.

The bill will do nothing to affect global warming. But it will put the brakes on the economy. But that seems to be the point: return us all to the economy of the 9th century.

We all need to contact our Senators, sign petitions, and vote anyone out that votes for this!

Did you mention the 9th Century?

That got me to thinking…What was life like in the 9th century??

Healthcare, by today’s standards, was awful-
The world was at war with Islam-
The use of modern conveniences, like cars and electricity (had they existed at that time), would have been condemned as the devil’s work- and the practitioners thereof would have been condemned as heretics and evildoers.

It sure looks like we are headed for the 9th century in more ways than one!

But hey, they didn’t have any coal-fired generating plants. Anthropogenic global warming was apparently not a problem, there was no auto pollution (might have been some horse pollution). How bad could it be?

In any case, just to prepare myself, I’m now starting to read “Dark Ages America” by Morris Berman.

Didn’t the EPA just release a report showing the globe was actually cooling?

But that aside, Polution is bad whether it impacts global temperatures or not.

So how does your rational scientific voice weigh in on these facts: American industry is cleaner than that in most developing countries. Penalties on polution in America will not be implemented in these developing countries. These penalties will put American businesses at a further competative disadvantage. This will result in a shifting of business activity from America with factories that emmitt less polution to developing countries with factories that emmitt more polution. Punative efforts toward American companies which exempt companies in developing countries will make polution worse.

Just one more way they’re setting the stage for globalization

Umm I donlt think they did…do you have a link?

So let’s pretend global warming is undisputed…how does moving manufacturing to countries with out EPA oversight helping things?
Well personally I am not sure how it would help and think it is a bad move. But my response was mainly to just counter the notion of some big cover up by the EPA of legimate science.

My personal experience with government agencies is such that I wouldn’t consider it to be out of the question. No so much in that their is an organized effort to suppress but a general mind set aligned with a preconceived notion which results in a premature dismissal of information that conflicts with the preconceived notion.
