=wasserfall;9364695]Me neither. But I think I know some. Let’s play a game…
-The cotta
Ok that’s like a short surplice.
-The saturno or cappello Romano
Awesome hat: looks like the planet saturn.
-The house cassock
Dunno how this differs from a “regular” cassock.
-The zucchetto
Hmmm… The skullcap?
😃 I think your a better Catholc than am I… DARN hate when that happens:signofcross:
I’ll be sure to Confess [just kidding folks!] my lack of knowledge.
God Bless and THANKS!:bowdown2:
-The faldstool
Folding bench for bishops who are not ordinaries to celebrate mass
-The farraiolo
a cool cape
-The cord for the pectoral cross versus the chain
I’m clueless here, but I think chains look better.

That seems to be a symptom indicative of a personal problem with trying new things and being afraid of new experiences, in my opinion.

I have the perfect! article to read that explains this in culinary and musical terms:

dominicanablog.com/2012/06/01/de-gustibus/
I’m not American. I’ve lived in 3 countries, have dual nationality and have 3 university degrees and I’ve read Virgil and Homer (and Catullus) in the original Latin (during a five year Latin course).

But I will still not subject myself to tedium and boredom trying to decipher obscure symbolism in order to see a truth that a better artist makes visible more clearly (I’m talking about movies here). I used to go to French and Italian movies when I was young and elitist.

The same is true (for me) with liturgical space and liturgies themselves.

So: Baroque - no thanks! Gothic - yes. Liverpool metropolitan Cathedral - absolutely.

I’m not saying you are wrong TYC (though I know you think I am).

But I do not see fundamental truths or beauty, or a subsequent increased reverence in many of the actions, gestures, or vestments that are not central to the Eucharistic action.

Plain chant and a monk singing the mass in a monastic chapel - my idea of heaven.

Baroque church, 2 miles of lace and embroidered silk - no thanks!😛
