It really does feel like the Church is upside down at the moment, with those who dissented for so many years suddenly becoming the most loyal supporters of the Pope’s office and his authority. Will they be as loyal and uncritical once the pendulum swings back to the Church of tradition and continuity?

This is an ideological conflict which goes far beyond Amoris Laetitia, Communion for the Divorced and Remarried and extends all the way to the question of “what is the Church, what is it for?”, even as far as to ask what Vatican II really represents: a council of continuity or rupture.

I’m from St. Louis. IMHO, he was a Just Judge sort and some people will never reconcile to the need to be guided by what the Church teaches. Lots of changes occurred in the archdiocese while he was in charge, and with that change people are always going to find fault. Although I love our current Archbishop, I also have the deepest respect and admiration for Cardinal Burke.

Oh yeah, the Polish Catholic Parish was trying to make themselves independent a mess for years.Thanks to his work and the Bishops afterwards it has been healed.
