If the Catholic church would step up to the plate and officially and publicly excommunicate so called Catholics like Pelosi and Biden(just to name 2) who aren’t the slightest bit reluctant to say that they are Catholic and support birth control and abortion in one and the same sentence, it might stir other Catholics to come forward and protest silliness like Obama-care. We need a few less scandalous leaders and a few more decent ones who promote true values.

Not only is it less than helpful with regard to contraception and abortion, but also to fornication itself.
Today’s society is so hardened to what is “good” for oneself, or what feels good, that we have completely forgotten basic Christian conduct.

I’ve often thought that it may have something to do with the huge fear surrounding their “tax exempt” status–most of the Catholics who are guilty of going against fundamental Catholic teaching belong to one specific party and I imagine you know which one it is. No matter what their reason though, I think it’s cowardly and a source of scandal among many of us to have our priests lecture us on Sunday about the church’s teachings while our bishops and cardinals conveniently turn a blind eye! I guarantee you that if the church just excommunicated one or two of the most agregious offenders, that the rest of them would either shut the h*ll up or officially change faiths. And who cares if they should change faiths? They certainly aren’t Catholic in more than name now anyway!!!

I would agree that caving in to the HHS is not only ‘less than helpful.’ It is undermining the Faith. It is giving up religious liberty for a pittance.

True, but perhaps if the USCCB had been more strident when the ACA was being debated, and not nearly as lukewarm, we wouldn’t have to retroactively fight it in court.
Sometimes, it seems as though the Bishops decide to fix the barn door once the horses have already run away.

I can see why he’d be annoyed.
How do Catholic groups continue to get away with this sort of thing. Heck, Michael Voris changed his ministry’s name out of obedience, even without technically having to. Yet, we have groups run amok who face no repercussions for calling themselves Catholic.
Perhaps the CHA does a lot of good, but how do they justify having a guide to helping people enroll in the ACA on their webpage?

Saying it isn’t perfect is an understatement. We are not talking about little imperfections, we are talking about religious groups being forced to foreswear their allegiance to God and their teachings in order to not be put out of business.
Perhaps an enrollment guide would make sense once the religious mandate was tossed out, but not now.
If the Church truly has no pull on these groups, they need to publically declare them in no way associated with the Church and oversee ones that represent the Church authentically, and also inform parishioners which groups are to be avoided like the plague.
