Always? Please cite Church teaching/canon law that states this. So far you’ve only cited Scripture.
Read back through the thread. It’s been posted numerous times. The discussion has gone more than circular in my opinion.

I pray I don’t leave charity behind in any occasion, because I believe it is against the teaching of Christ.

I use scriptures a lot. They caused me to convert in 1985, and have confirmed all teachings of the Church to me.

Yeah, I’m still scratching my head over why the concerns raised in this thread are being attributed merely to “partisan politics”.
Let’s say Romney won the election and the Pope and Bishop sent the same messages. Would you be criticizing their actions in that instance?

People are really digging deep to justify dropping charity towards other people. You’re not going to find support for that from Christ or the Church.
You can criticize a person without dropping charity towards them. “Charity” does not mean “keep silent, no matter what.” And Jesus was very, very critical about a lot of people who were doing things solely in the spirit of the law, without regard for morality.

Cardinal Ratzinger explained that one cannot support an intrinsic evil and then gave allowances of supporting a candidate as long as one did not support the intrinsic evil issues. That is used in the Faithful Citizenship Voter’s Guide, and repeated by other clergy.

How many out spoken Bishops were there this election? How many Bishops in the US? Percentages do not give credibility, but do add validity to either side of the debate.

It is wrong to pick and choose among men of the Church, which places them one against another.
In this instance, any vote not for Romney supported intrinsic, evil issues. There’s no way around that.

I can agree. We can easily see there is a claim to an obvious lack of charity in dealing with the president.

Church documents? That is a partisan accusation. If you would like, I will send you something from a Bishop that describes the narrowing of Catholic teaching for other interests.

Republicans had the white house for 8 years, 2 with republican controlled house and senate, and 7 republican appointed supreme court justices to 2 appointed by democrats. This was during the GWB years. Apathy? Call it what you like. Abortion continued…

I pray for His help to change the things I can, and His help to accept the things I cannot change. I will not despair, for my faith is in Him.
And one of the things that we have the power to change is our political leaders, providing we vote for those who are pro-life and oppose those who are anti-life.

Cardinal Dolan was/is a part of a lawsuit filed against this administration, prior to the Catholic charities dinner, and the notice of congratulations.
I have no quarrell with Cardinal Dolan at all. The lawsuits will go forward. As will the pro-life movement. We must do our best to put in place pro-life political leaders.

You realize the nominee is an important decision.

During the nomination process this past election, everyone exercised their ‘right’ to pick and choose with other issues in the consideration. Once they chose it became, ‘a Catholic must support our candidate.’

Republicans know where their weaknesses are, but refuse to address them for the ‘important issues’. If the important issue is truly above all other issues, then maybe the Republicans should concede on the other issues for the right to life issue? That’s no different than what’s preached after the nomination.

Concede on what other issues? Religious liberty? Same sex marriage? National bankruptcy?

No point conceding on those. The administration already owns those issues.

That’s why we are where we are today.

Immigration, social security, medicare, equal tax rates for all, those 4 alone could have made a different outcome.

I think not Frat, both Romney a Mormon, and Paul Ryan a Catholic said abortion was ok in certain circumstances, life of the mother and Rape. The case of Life of the mother truly a very hard call, it lies in the faith of mother and father. In the case of rape, have you ever noticed the child, in some cases will get aborted, {murdered} the rapist will do time, this certainly is not Justice ? I almost did not vote for Romney, but with much thought decided to as a case for the least of evils seemed right.

God Bless
🙂

In an attempt to get us back on topic, I asked if the Cardinal and Pope’s actions would have been acceptable had Romney been elected. I asked this because one poster stated these criticisms had nothing to do partisan politics.

Neither party represents God, but what makes the democrat party worse is abortion. I found the denial of God 3 times in the democrat platform pitiful. BHO, on his 3rd day in office lifted the ban on the Mexico City policy opening the floodgate of money to NGOs internationally. Obama supports infanticide. Despite their strong will to survive, these babies must be left to die. His daughters should not be punished with a baby!!! Barack Hussein Obama is indisputably the most anti-Christian president in U.S. history.

You know something, after reading these lovely accomplishments, maybe you’re right. Congratulations Barack, well done. 👍

No I didn’t. I am open to correction as soon as you produce a Church document that excludes third party candidates.
I’m not saying you can’t vote third party as I myself considered it. But when all is said and done I couldn’t go through with it because it meant I was actually giving a vote to Obama. This is not a new idea. Many folks feel this same way …EVEN Democrats.

So, no my comment was not partisan.

The issue is what does each candidate support. One candidate tends to support Catholic ideals; the other does not. One is actually attacking Catholic ideals. This is an issue about who supports our Church, not whether one is Republican or one is Democrat. It could have been the opposite way around and I would have the same feelings (and I suspect that is how everyone else on this thread would feel too). I couldn’t care less about the parties. It;s gotten to the point where voting is such a joke anyway.

But you go on with how it’s all about partisan politics.
