Cardinal Dolan was correct in his decision. The Holy Mass is not the place for trying to make political points and protests. It is highly disrespectful of Joey and his group to take action as they did. Sounds like they are just trying to snare the good cardinal.

Misrepresentation in the form of misleading headlines occurs on both sides of the political spectrum: liberal and conservative. In this case, the liberal print media is at fault. Further, no matter how urgent the grievance–and I can recall the tumult by the gay activist organization “Act Up” at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in the 1980’s regarding the perceived lack of attention by the Church to the AIDS epidemic and its unwillingness to sanction the use of condoms–the violation of religious houses of worship by means of disorderly protestations can never be condoned. There are other means of protest that can be employed which maintain a degree of civility and respect. Otherwise, we will no doubt degenerate into a state of anarchy rather than a (mostly) civilized society.

HuffPo. What do you expect? I am certainly weary of those who base their entire identity by what they do with their genitalia. It seems like such a pathetic reduction of a human being into a body part.

What is being promoted 24/7 on the media today? Use your genitalia a lot. Anyone who says self-control is good is “forcing” his view on others. The Church building is a House of Worship. That’s it.

Protest wherever you want, legally. But this is another clear example of “if we can’t do it our way then you are bad and so is your Church.” I think some people have an illusion of change. The Church is not going to change.

Peace,
Ed

I think there is already a thread going on this, but I will repeat my opinion.

Some professional agitators tried to cause a problem and disrupt mass. Cardinal Dolan and the NYPD stopped them from doing so, and now they are throwing a tantrum and claiming that their rights were violated.
I thought there was another thread about this as well, but I can’t find it. Where is it?
