St. Francis is a large parish in Manhatten staffed by the Jesuits which is described as homosexual friendly. The lesbian and homosexual ‘ministries’ has in the past marched in the city’s homosexual pride parade carrying a banner of the parish. The bishop instructed the pastor of St. Francis to not allow parishoners to carry a banner in the parade with the St. Francis name on it.

The week before the parade, there was a rededication of the parish by Bishop Dolan. Cardinal Egan was also present at the Mass. During the rededication Mass, someone from the parish was publically recognizing some of the ‘ministries’ of the parish. The videotape shows Bishop Dolan smiling and apparently approving as the speaker publically introduces the LGBT ministry to the bishop and all who are present.

Later in the video, Cardinal Egan is interviewed after the Mass. The cardinal spoke of St. Francis parish as one of the greatest Catholic Churches of the world !! He lauded the accomplishments of the pastor at St. Francis and the wonderful work he has done there.

You really need to see the video to get the full nauseating picture.

Such is the leadership of our ‘modern’ Catholic Church.

You shouldn’t criticize the successors of the apostles.

Archbishop Dolan congratulated the parish for restoring a beautiful old church, and for bringing so many of these LGBT people who are in such danger, into the church with their LGBT outreach ministry.

Hmm, who should we respect more, whiners who like to trash our bishops online, or these wonderful orthodox bishops God has given us through the leadership of Pope Benedict? Hmmmmmm…

Forgot to mention that the interview of the cardinal is on the video from the parish website.

Neil - according to your logic, no one should have said anything critical of Bishop Weakland when he used $450,000 of church money to pay off the homosexual with whom he chose to have sex.

Wow… got any other posts to back this up? Its too bad no one else can see the video for this. I’ve seen stuff from these guys before and questioned their intent. It sounds like it is taken completley out of context and posted by people who want to smeer the bishop. Either you or them or both.

You should do a little more research into these news stories before posting so other people can actually see what you are talking about without signing up for what seems to be a poor news source. Its really wierd because he really doesn’t seem to be very supportive in these articles:

cnn.com/2010/US/06/27/new.york.church.gay.pride/index.html?iref=allsearch

metroweekly.com/news/last_word/2010/06/ny-gay-catholics-march-in-prid.html

The fact that they rededicated the church does not mean anything as it is still part of us, and as a shepard, they are supposed to lead the lost sheep.

So you dont think the Church should minister to Homosexuals?

Wow… you have a good history of poor posts. I do wish that it was easy to stop posters such as yourself from spilling lies into the water. Do you have any sense of guilt at all about it? Or do you actually buy into the “RealCatholicTV” hook line, and sinker? /sigh I will pray for you.

Here you can see the video here on you tube

I’m very troubled with this situation, for the sake of people’s souls. We are not to take the Eucharist unworthily, this would be a grave matter.

Why would I think they’re taking the Eucharist unworthily, because of the comment by one of the parishioners that she can be accepted in the Church in relation to her “partner” That shows me that this church is bringing the sacraments to the GLBT groups alright, but are they doing it through helping people with same sex attraction to live according to the Church? I doubt it. People who are working on their sins do not go into parades that praises that sin wearing t-shirts with rainbows and the name of the church.

So you dont think the Church should minister to Homosexuals?
The Church is full of sinners and the Church is here to minister to us all through the sacramental gifts of God.
Sexual sins such as Sodomy, Adultery, fornication are amongst the deadly sins and unless these practices are repented of and stopped, people who indulge in them are in mortal danger as far as God our judge is concerned.:( Peace, Carlan

First up, CYmonk.

Anyone can see the videos. As I explained, anyone can set up a free account at this website and see the videos for themselves. If one doesn’t want to open an account at this site, the video is apparently also available at the parish website. So much for ‘research’.

Further, the first paragraph of my original post references the story contained in the links of your post - and the gentleman at RealCatholic TV mentioned the same thing. So no one was being deceptive.

Finally, specifically what ‘lie’ did I ‘spill’ (sic)?

Next up, estesbob.

Where did I even imply in my post that the Church shouldn’t ‘minister’ to homosexuals. I’ll save you the trouble, I didn’t. The problem is that the pastor at this parish doesn’t preach against the intrinsic evil of homosexual behavior. A lesbian at this parish was interviewed by CNN and stated publicly that she and her ‘partner’ are completely accepted at this parish even though they continue to break Church teaching by engaging in homosexuality. The pastor stated in the same story that homosexuals go to his parish because they aren’t judged (his word) for their homosexual behavior.

Finally the archbishop celebrated the rededication Mass knowing full well the reputation of this parish and was publicly introduced to the homosexual ministry at this parish which doesn’t work to encourage parishoners to lead a chaste life but promotes living openly as active homosexuals. Rather than use this opportunity as a moment to instruct these souls in his care what the Church teaches, he chose to act as though what they were doing is completely acceptable.

Finally the retired cardinal stated that this parish was one of the greatest Catholic Church’s in the world and that the pastor was doing an excellant job.

That’s the problem.

Why are those who are always quick to criticize always the ones who know the least about a situation?

St. Ignatius Church in Manhattan has a long, long history of supporting homosexuals. One priest told me that they had a Mass once just for gay men. St. Ignatius is in the heart of Chelsea, which is a very big gay area in Manhattan. As I posted in another thread, this priest told me it is the leading Catholic church in supporting gays and lesbians. There is a CNN report in which one parishoner proudly proclaims how supportive the church is of her and her “partner.”

Archbishop Dolan this year told them that they were not to carry the church banner in the Gay Pride Parade, which is basically one big orgy including naked men marching in the parade.

I don’t understand why Egan and Dolan are so supportive of St. Ignatius. Egan was never very strong in publicly defending the Catholic Church while he was bishop, but Dolan surprises me. He is very close to Fr. Groeschel, has appeared on his show several times. I’ve seen Dolan in person and read his articles in the local New York Catholic newspaper, and he has always been very orthodox. The only thing I can think of is they don’t feel it would be helpful to hit the parishoners over the head with a stick. Dolan told them not to carry the Church banner in the pride parade, which is more than Egan ever did. I’m hoping he is taking it little by little with them, drawing them back into the fold. Certainly it is something to pray about.

But I would caution against being so quick to condemn Archbishop Dolan. You don’t know what is going on behind the scenes. Dolan is never one not to talk to the press, so if he is being quiet, I can only surmise that it is for a good reason. It is a very delicate situation in this church, and the most important thing is to save souls.

Here is a link to RCTC the OP was refferering to:

Here is the link of the Mass celebrated by the Bishop:
youtube.com/watch?v=sQEmO07DpaI

Here is the link of the CNN video (notice that one of the parishoners claims to still live her lifestyle and still taking communion)

To the OP, there are already 2 threads on this topic, including one about the Vortix.

To those who hate on RCTV, they have done more to spread the truth of the Gospel than other organizations, the Vortix is only a small part of their network.

No, I don’t know what is going on behind the scenes. I do know what’s going on right in front of my eyes. Why are you bending over backwards to misinterpret the facts? If Dolan is not speaking to the press, it’s because he will not condemn the homosexual activity and he cannot publicly praise it. Therefore, he’s stuck and hasn’t found a way to wiggle himself out of it. As for behind the scenes, I am glad I don’t know what’s going on because I know I’d be too busy throwing up and wouldn’t have any time to type.

ncstevem: Glad to see you understand the situation. Several of us on other threads are as outraged as you are. Check these links (below) and please e-mail this information to the Pope, so the Vatican cannot claim ignorance of the situation. Furthermore, Dolan is in line to be a Cardinal as the head of the NY Archdiocese and he would be in line to vote for the next Pope. You can readily see the implications. Join us in spreading the word - God’s word, that is.

FYI. Michael Voris researched the information given to him about St. Francis Xavier for 2 weeks. He made numerous attempts to contact Dolan’s office. Zwilling (his p.r. man)would not respond. Voris deals in facts, not rhetoric. What makes it so difficult to hear the truth and not recognize it? Tell me and the rest of us what you see in the videos that supports your conclusions. We are not searching the dark alleys of their minds. We are responding to the brazen spotlight they put on themselves. What’s more, this is one link in the strong chain of abomination. It’s our desire to preserve our faith in Truth.

Lies? Deciept? Maybe it could be a misunderstanding… but I doubt it.

If he were actually publicly saying that homosexuality was ok, I would be very concerned. But since he specifically wrote a letter against it which was mentioned in the same report, I think someone needs to put their thinking caps on if they aren’t understanding the context.

In this ariticle, RCTV paints this as the arch bishop supporting a Gay and Lesbians ministy group. As estesbob is trying to point out… the bishop is supporting a group the ministers to the LBGT parishioners. If a church has a group that ministers to prisoners, it does not mean that we are supporting criminal activities. If the bishop applauds the efforts to help prisoners, we do not question that. Even if the ministry group is made up of several prisoners, we still have no problems with it. In this case, if he applauds a group who brings these stray catholics legitimately back to the sacraments, you would condemn him for it? Would we not say, “good for them” ?

Instead of looking at Dolan’s loyalty to the church teachings with the letter he just sent, they used it as an opportunity to make him appear to be publically supporting LBGTs. That is a very deceptive lie. One in which all of these posters now see a smudge on the bishop’s character and loyalty to church teachings. I challenge you to come up with a record of public support of gay’s and lesbians.

I admit that I am quite ignorant of that specific parish. There is a possible variable in this thread which would be the assumption that everyone in that particular group is letting them take communion. An assumption we don’t know about, atleast from this thread. We only heard that the LBGT parishioners don’t feel condemned there. That does tell us anything about the bishop, or the church promoting or 'ok’ing the homosexual lifestyle. It just means they are showing love towards them while trying to correct sin. The priest says right on the report that they are not promoting promiscuity.

Does anyone have any legit information on the church publicly promoting this activity? Or that the LGBTs that come in are taking communion while publicly promoting this activity?

Here are some postings I am copying off their own website that I could find:
“Practicing Catholics and non-practicing, the religious and not-so-religious—all are welcome. Our mission is to provide a safe place for gay women to come together and discuss issues related to spirituality, identity and community.”
"Our Parish Mission Statement
We, the Church of St. Francis Xavier, are a prophetic Roman Catholic community where Jesus Christ is recognized as Companion in our journey and made present through our celebration of the sacraments, our proclamation and echoing of the gospel, and our loving outreach and service, especially to those in most need.
While acknowledging our incompleteness and need for God’s grace, we affirm the equality of God’s people that flows from baptism and we commit ourselves to the spirit of inclusion and collaboration.
We are called to respond to God in our time by being a community where seekers and their questions are welcomed, where injustice in all its forms is challenged, where the alienated and the marginalized find a home, and where people are refreshed, reconciled, and renewed in their journey to God.
Standing together as a people of hope, we seek to realize the Reign of God.
All I could find is stuff saying that they reach out to LBGT’s, not that they say the sin is ok as the RCTV is trying to incinuate.

Lies? Deciept? Maybe it could be a misunderstanding… but I doubt it.

Christ be with you all,
Cymonk

Here’s a couple links as to his teachings on homosexuality. Please not I just did a quick search. Again, I challenge you to come up with anything of a different tune.

In an interview with the New York Post on April 22, 2009, Dolan reasserted his opposition to gay marriage, saying, “There is an in-built code of right and wrong that is imbedded in the human DNA…Hard-wired into us is a dictionary, and the dictionary defines marriage as between one man, one woman for life, please God, leading to the procreation of human life. And if we begin to tamper with the very definition of marriage, then we’re going to be in big trouble.”[27] [28] Describing the Church’s position as not “anti-gay,” he said, “We’re pro-the most basic definition of marriage.”
zenit.org/article-1790?l=english
ZENIT: How can the Church express its disapproval of homosexual behavior without being accused of bigotry or hate crimes?
Monsignor Dolan: This is a tactical question. Instead of focusing on disapproval of sexual immorality, it is much more effective to concentrate on approval of authentic sexual love.
Here we take our lead from Pope John Paul II. We cannot allow the “culture of death” to stereotype the Church as a dour, finger-wagging, puritanical old spinster. No!
The Church is in the forefront of defending the beauty, dignity, joy and, yes, the “divinity” of sexual love! This can only be done when we defend the divine design of sexuality. For the Church, sexual love is so good, so sacred, so special, so beautiful, and so powerful, that the Creator intends that it only be used by a man and a woman united in faithful, life-giving, lifelong marriage. Anything outside of this is not a proper use of sex but an abuse, and leads to destruction of self, of partner, of culture, of society, and of life.
It is time for the Church to stand up and preach to the forces of sexual license, “We are not anti-sex, you are! We defend the beauty, the dignity and the nobility of sexual love. We dare to claim, as does our Pope, that the conjugal love of a husband and wife is an icon, a mirror, of God´s love.”
That is the tactic we must employ. And sane voices in society, even from those who do not share our faith, are beginning to admit that maybe we´re on to something, for the horrors of unrestrained sexual license are too dramatic to ignore.

Oye! please forgive the bad typing skills as I was typing this post in a rush.

Thank you for posting these. That is the Archbishop Dolan that I know. That only makes me think even more that he working behind the scenes in a very delicate situation, trying to bring these people back to God.

Actions speak louder than words.

Abuse of and desecration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass can never be defended.

Yesterday’s episode of the Vortex addresses why it is so dangerous to “use charity as an excuse for cowardice” - and why it is imperative that we not allow a blind eye to be turned toward brazen sacrilege.

(Voris is explicitly referencing the St. Francis Xavier/Dolan case, so it is on topic.)

Watched it CYB. Wished I hadn’t. It tries to preach truth and there are many parts of truth in it. However it offers nothing else to add to these deceiptful posts. It only resounds a message saying you should spread truth… well no kidding. Just wish they weren’t trying to get people to spread false truth that they put together.
