Will this never end?:crying:
Which part would you like to end: Christian compassion for those in prison? The Church acccepting responsibility for the ongoing care and monitoring of an offender after his release?

I hope that never ends!!!

Read the link to the article about the Cardinal trying to get Fr. Maday out early AFTER he had pretty clear evidence AND recommendations from his legal team that this guy was a “serial” pediphile. The more that came forward about him, the more he started to change his mind. I’m sorry but this priest ruined many a life and even just one should be enough to either keep him behind bars or monitored for the rest of his life, NOT back in the fold where who knows where he’d be?

And Christian charity should be about protecting our children or so I thought.

Cardinal George has said that he "wrote those letters of support to Fr. Maday before he examined the archdiocese file on Maday, "and that his support was “based on others’ characterizations of Maday’s case.” It is beyond comprehension that the Cardinal hadn’t even read up on a man ***convicted of **child molestation *before working to reduce his prison sentence.

The Cardinal did eventually retract his offer to care for Maday upon release saying, “the situation has changed” and that the archdiocese "is not capable of receiving him back into our system.’’

Cardinal George has also requested of Rome that Maday "be dismissed from the Catholic priesthood,’’ once he "realized that this man had seriously abused many, many innocent children.’’

Not to excuse the Cardinal, but I’d say the lesson has been learned. So yes, we have reason to hope this will stop.

How did I miss the part about the Cardinal requesting that Maday be dismissed from the prieshood?😊 Well, at least that shines a somewhat more positive light on the situation. Also I read an article just today that there were indeed many others that advise him (one being the Vicar of Priests in the Archdiocese) that were downplaying the situation with Maday. None of the Cardinals make decisions completely without (name removed by moderator)ut from others. This latest incident just reinforces the importance of praying for our priests and Bishops.

The bishops are trying to rebuild their credibility. They hire pr firms to help, but they are their own worst enemies. They prove time and again they can not be trusted. One bonehead move after another.
I guess that was my thought exactly after reading several articles. How many times do they let these guys slide? This isn’t the first time The Cardinal has pulled this. At some point you would like to see them actually “get it.”:o

Catholics have only one way to get their attention, but after witnessing the horrendous scandals, lawsuits and payoffs it is clear the folks in the pew are not going to do anything, at least for now. It will have to erupt again.

The pewsitters control the purse.
