In an interview with Raymond Arroyo of ETWN, Cardinal Kasper denied having said that the Pope backed his proposal. “Well, this I did not say,” he said. When Arroyo quoted Cardinal Kasper’s claim of papal approval (“Clearly, this is what he wants”), the cardinal answered: “No… he did not my proposal.”

Cardinal Kasper went on to explain that Pope Francis wanted the question raised, and wanted discussion of the idea, but “I wouldn’t say he approved the proposal; no, no, no.”

Me too, Joe! I actually feel like doing a pirouette and leg kick at having been spot on… not to rub it in the face of anyone, but just because I feel that my Catholic instincts can serve my faith and that of my children well.

It seemed so moronically obvious that Pope Francis was opening up the floor to courageous exploration of some of the difficult conundrums that have been needing air and sunshine and natural healing.
 
It’s odd how often these guys need to have their own words quoted back to them.

I was pretty thrilled to see him admit his prior fabrication. Herr Cardinal needs to retire to a life of prayer and reflection and quit publicly trying to destroy the faith. The fact is this German reformation redux is, like the first one, all about money from the state. German people are withholding tax support from the Church in droves and the beneficiaries of the tax largess are nervous about their lifestyles.
