It could be that Cardinal Muller’s concerns were directed implicitly to some in the German hierarchy who have given the impression sometimes that doctrines can be stretched beyond the breaking point.

I agree considering what I read on another forum. It seems the manifesto is dated in January before the document in question or signed.

I’m waiting for a reply concerning the date and where they saw it.

It believe it to be that mind set, and maybe it was mostly the Germans. But the idea of a breaking point is what I got. He is saying at what point there is a break from doctrine.

The headline of the article is a bit misleading. The Cardinal’s letter simply restates Church doctrine and dogma.

I read his Holiness’ UAE statement. I have read/listened to several noted theologians take the paragraph in question apart as pertains to the perennial teachings of the Scriptures, Dr.'s Of the Church and the Magesterium. It is troubling.
His Eminence Cardinal Muller’s document is in keeping with the perennial teachings of holy Mother Church.
I do not know if this was directed at the Holy Father or the wayward Bishops and Cardinal Marx of Germany.
What I do know, without the need of “interpretation” is that on occasion the Holy Father says things that are in stark contrast to the Perennial teachings and that is troublesome.
But we do have, especially in this age of the internet, access to over 2000 years of the Church’s teachings to draw from. Councils, Dr.'s, Saints, and Sacred Scripture.
I think I will stand with that, and not trouble myself with “interpretations” or Pretzel logic to determine what words mean.
