However, that’s pretty standard fare for “bashers” of the Holy Father. I don’t think he lets it get to him, and neither should we.

I don’t disagree with the article, but I fear there is this tendency with how we see Pope Francis’ papacy. Many think he is going to radically change things, so we go reading his stuff to find if he does. When we find out he doesn’t change anything we don’t worry about reading it, because it doesn’t change anything.
I’ve read about 60% of his document and while I don’t like how he constantly quotes the synod, there are some very powerful and deep insights into marriage and family life. It really is a beautiful document, Pope Francis has a deep heart for families. In this time, which we could almost call a crisis of the family, we need someone to courageously preach the truth in the midst of great evil.
I don’t want to go to long on this and this isn’t a criticism of Cardinal Muller, but I fear that there is such a focus on how Pope Francis may change the Church in radical ways, that we don’t hear what he really has to say and we just get tied up in how the Pope isn’t changing the Church.
We need to correct those who say the Pope is changing 2000 years of Catholic Tradition, but at the same time we need to highlight the great insights he is giving the modern world in this document.

Amen. I love where your heart is at, and that is my inclination as well.
My experience has been difficult though. I spend time trying to correct misinformation, and it starts to make me look like I’m correcting the Pope. And this amongst Catholics who attend Mass weekly. I don’t even get a chance to move on to the “yesses” that the “no’s” point toward, because I’ve got maybe five seconds of air-time to speak.
I would love for Priests to speak some words on the issue, because it means so much more coming from them. What amazes me is that I’ve heard nothing about it outside of the MSM. As far as I can tell, they’re the only ones directing the narrative. I can’t figure out if Priests are simply waiting for the dust to settle, or if most people don’t care enough to know, making it a moot point. That’s not an insult, just an observation. Most people don’t have time to research this stuff, and don’t follow Catholic news that much.

I guess I would want to know which priests were going to say something. I have come across several priests who have an “internet presence” to some degree, who are not even careful to hide the disdain they hold for the Pope.
