General Petraeus stated on Tuesday that he believes a public burning of the Koran would endanger Americans abroad, particularly those serving in the military. Images of the planned event at the Dove World Outreach Center, Petraeus warned, would be used in propaganda intended to recruit terrorists and incite anti-American violence for years to come.
Speaking for the Catholic League, Bill Donohue compared the small evangelical group’s planned actions to those of homosexual protestors, who burned a Bible in 1998 to protest an appearance of the conservative Catholic political figure Pat Buchanan.
“There are plenty of legitimate ways to protest the wrongdoing that took place on September 11, 2001,” Donohue concluded. “Burning copies of the Koran is not one of them.”

We must all pray for the innocent victims of the retaliation by the radical Islamic wackos that will surely follow this heinous act of burning the sacred scripture of another faith. No true Christian would ever support such an act, this sect is being deceived by Satan.

So apparently we should kiss Korans instead, like Karol Wojtyla.
It wasn’t “Karol Wojtyla,” but Pope John Paul II who did that. Give him his due by referring to him as the Pope.
More doublespeak from the Novus Ordo.
What does anything on this thread have to do with the Novus Ordo Mass?

A bit of advice: I see by the number of your posts that you are a new boy here and may not know all the rules, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t give you a friendly warning that you’d do well not to slight any Pope or make disparaging remarks about any approved form of the Mass on this Forum.

And isn’t it sad that this even has to be stated? I wonder how many soldiers and others will pay with their lives for this idiot’s (and I say that with all due respect) actions?

Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, the former Archbishop of Washington, D.C., voiced his own criticisms of the planned demonstration at a press conference for various religious leaders hosted by the Islamic Society of North America. Religious leaders, the cardinal said, “cannot stand by in silence when things like this are happening.”
i think it’s more about cardinal mccarrick showing how he is not intolerant or bigoted. does cardinal mccarrick scream from the rooftops when they desecrate images of the Blessed Virgin Mary or worse yet, when the eucharist is desecrated–something that happens frequently.

yet they keep elevating this nobody jerk pastor actions to the world and then claim his actions will kill people. i think islamicists will kill for any reason or no reason. as if the western world will ever coexist peacefully with islam. their holy book, the explicit word of allah says otherwise. it’s full of contradictions violent epithets.

maybe i’ll burn a koran in my backyard. it has certainly led to the death and misery of way too may people throughout the centuries.

The difference between radical Islam and Christianity is that Christians are generally people of peace and forgiveness not barbarians. I feel sorry for those of Islam who are just as upset with the radical element as we are and I hope someday they will stand with us and put a stop to the violence.

We are told this “pastor” has a flock of 50 people. We know nothing of his preparation to be a religious leader or to whom he is responsible, if anybody.

We should be very critical of the news media that takes a flake and builds he into monster for all the world to see.

We should note also just how fast protests were organized in the Middle East with this guy’s picture.

Once the news media takes a small stupid story and broadcasts it world wide, things get out of hand. This forces responsible people like General Petreus (sic), Cardinal McCarrick, Secretary of State Clinton, and others to speak out. And that further calls attention to a story that should have been buried.

SHAME ON THE IRRESPONSIBLE NEWS MEDIA for stirring the pot of hatred needlessly.

This is actually rather instructive about the differences between Western Civilization and the Islamic civilization.

When an obscure christian pastor of a tiny independant christian community in a town most people have never heard of burns an Islamic BOOK, the entire world erupts with horror and criticism.

When Islamists in any of two dozen countries of the world mutilate the genitals of women, execute those they catch who have chosen to convert from Islam to other religions, behead captured "infidels, blow up buildings/airplanes/restaurants/nightclubs, and generally preach hatred and violence against PEOPLE (not just books) from the pulipt, the news story is generally placed on page 3 (unless an unusual number of people are killed in the process, say more than 10).

If the definition of NEWS is the reporting of unusual events of interest to people, then people might want to ponder the implications.

Another question I have is “Where is the ACLU on this?” Must make them squirm a little bit with their long history of supporting the “rights” of those who want to burn flags and submerge crucifixes in jars of urine…
