What is the difference between a TLM and a Tridentine one?
None, really. “Tridentine” is actually a misnomer since the traditional Missal, in its essentials, dates back to the time of Pope St. Gregory the Great, and not the time of the Council of Trent (whence the name “Tridentine”). The Tridentine Fathers did order a revision of the Missal, which was undertaken under Pope St. Pius V, but this revision was limited largely to purging the Missal of various accretions that had built up over time (introduced from local customs and the like). It was a true restoration, and not a reformation, of the Roman Missal.

We’re new to the Southfield area, looking for a home parish and have seen some of the many abuses when visiting different parishes in the area - any suggestions on some of the good parishes in the metro Detroit area?

Also, any news on which parishes will be offering the Tridentine Mass? I’ve never been to one and am very interested to attend!
I sing in the choir at Old St Mary’s and St. Joes is up the street from us. We both are traditional parishes that offer the Latin Mass; and the English Liturgy isn’t happy-clappy either. You won’t find a Partridge Family Mass at either place. Yahoo-ers be aware.

In addition to those two, there is The Assumption Grotto in Detroit, where the Late Fr. Hardon SJ was in residence before his death.
