You’ll need to talk to the theologians about that. As far as I know, my statements reflect Church teachings. If I am wrong, I’d definitely admit it, but I trust our catechism. Lol! I haven’t put those thoughts through semantic gymnastics.
While it is true that the priest must decide whether or not to grant absolution repeatedly during a scheduled confession session, I’ve never heard his words referred to as casting judgment, and I’ve been receiving the sacraments for more than 70 years, to my almost constant shock! (Where did the years go?)
So far as I can think of at the moment, “judgment” comes from God immediately after death, and refers to whether we go to 1) hell; 2) purgatory, then, after expiation, to heaven; or 3) straight to heaven.
I do try to never misstate. If you can point to Church documents where I’m in error, please tell me.
