The hearing is expected to be quite short.
Huge media scrum is there already.

I will update as soon as there is more news.

I’m baffled by how details of allegations against someone in a public hearing can somehow not be made public.
The allegations were public, then he was charged. His lawyers placed a suppression order on the charge details. This is likely to run over several years. So if he has a jury, there is less chance of an unfair trial.

Also I guess if anyone else comes forward with allegations, there is usually a pattern.

Suppression orders seem to be used fairly frequently in Australia and in UK. In the US, unless the whole hearing is closed for some reason (in which case stuff can still leak and the press is generally allowed to print it), suppression (called gag order here) rarely happens unless it’s a case involving some kind of government classified info or national security info. If this case were in US, the guy’s entire charging document would have already been on the web for public reading, probably with names and such redacted but details of the charges intact.

Would a situation like that then need a no jury trial?

As an aside it is nice to see the shite storm expected by the media yesterday did not eventuate.
