And nothing is stopping any individual anglican (or family) from contacting their local Catholic priest and converting the ‘old fashioned’ way. Since they are baptized, practicing Christians who presumably agree with Catholic doctrine, they may not even have to go through RCIA.

It concernes me to see all the bickering over property in the groups that are splitting. I realize that their contributions paid for the buildings etc, but if they are truly going after the truth they need to “give up house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God”. Jesus then promises, “receive (back) an overabundant return in this present age and eternal life in the age to come”. It is even more clear in this verse, “And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life.”

Kasper, I am happy because He is old, because his lack of enthusiasm for evangelization is sad, very sad.

Its all well and good to say that these Anglicans can convert individually if they wish, but there are some problems that would hinder this.

Realize a couple of facts:
  1. This group of traditional Anglicans are quite orthodox. Many Catholic parishes are not. While these Anglicans would bring much needed faith and loyalty to the doctrines of the Church many would be feareful of being sidelined because of their orthodoxy by liberal priests and bishops.
  2. They wish to keep their own liturgy. The traditional Anglican liturgy is said in an antique style of English, the Altar ad orientem, and is very similar to Tridentine Mass. In the 1980s Cardinal Ratzinger established the Anglican Use (or form) of the Roman Rite for use by converted Anglican parishes- a liturgy for this very situation.
  3. In light of the two points above, it is obvious that they would wish to keep their own communities intact. This would also include the transfer of properties Catholic dioceses.
Frankly I do not understand how the Cardinal can voice such an opinion. The greatest work of the Church is the salvation of souls. Just think of how many more souls will be saved if these Anglicans convert.

So I guess that means each individual person has to go through RCIA. Then maybe they can get together (w/ their former clergy, who’ll have had to petition Rome to be ordained via the Pastoral Provision) and petition for an Anglican use parish. All so we don’t upset Rowan Williams and other “Christian leaders”, when they couldn’t care less about “upsetting” the Catholic Church. Sad, but typical. 😦

In Christ,

Ellen
Given Rowans latest “opinions” on the Nativity, the cardinal has misplaced his concerns. And I say that as someone who thinks the TAC should go Western Orthodox Rite.

I think allowing Kasper in his position really throws a damp towel on those embracing Benedict and hi orthodoxy. IMO it is all a good cop/bad cop show. JMHO to repeat it again. Something does not add up with the picture.

The TAC will never, IMO, be allowed to become Catholic en masse.

Too uncomforatble and fundamentalist a group.

Better pursue unity with Bishop Rowan - that is how I think this will go.

Never say never!🙂

Remember, a few years ago people were saying that what Benedict XVI did in *Summorum Pontificum *would *never *happen, and yet that wasn’t quite true!

If anybody can bring in the TAC, it the present Pope. Cardinals can say whatever they want, but this Pope has shown that he does not view the liberal/modernist position as having much weight. Cardinals spoke out against the motu proprio, remember, and the Pope was not deterred. He even got rid of Archbishop Marini.

No, if the Pope wants these guys in and they are sincere, then it will happen.

I’m sorry. I truly don’t see why any of those things would be an impediment to conversion if they understand that they are missing out on the REAL body and blood, soul and divinity of Christ. Even if the priest is liberal minded and the music stinks, a Catholic Eucharist is truly Christ. An Anglican Mass, no matter how beautiful, does not confect the true body and blood of Christ.
