Pope Francis asked leading African Cardinal Robert Sarah “to continue the good work in the liturgy begun by Pope Benedict XVI” when he became Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments last November, he has revealed.
In his message to the Sara Liturgia USA Conference in New York, which began on Monday, the Guinean Cardinal said: “When the Holy Father, Pope Francis, asked me to accept the ministry of Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, I asked: ‘Your Holiness, how do you want me to exercise this ministry? What do you want me to do as Prefect of this Congregation?’ The Holy Father’s reply was clear. ‘I want you to continue to implement the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council,’ he said, ‘and I want you to continue the good work in the liturgy begun by Pope Benedict XVI.’”
He asked the conference “to be wise, like the householder in St Matthew’s Gospel, who knows when to bring out of his treasure things both new and old (cf Matt 13:52), so that the Sacred Liturgy as it is celebrated and lived today may lose nothing of the estimable riches of the Church’s liturgical tradition, whilst always being open to legitimate development (cf Sacrosanctum Concilium, 23)”.

Thank God for Pope Francis! This is indeed good news. May God continue to bless Pope Francis and Cardinal Sarah with His Godly Wisdom and Guidance. Amen!

Ten bucks says “…whilst always being open to legitimate development…” gets hijacked by the MSM to “support” changes in Catholic Doctrine.

That said, this is nice to read, thanks for sharing. ^^ I really do love Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict, it’s nice to see Pope Francis supporting Benedict’s good works!

Each Pope has his strengths and Benedicts was certainly the liturgy. Pope Francis shows his wisdom in advising the Congregation to continue Benedicts’ work.

I hope one day that the Latin mass will be all the more abundantly celebrated throughout the whole world. I <3 Latin mass!

They’ll have to fight the Holy Spirit if they think they can change the Catholic Doctrine. Sorta like banging your head against a brick wall. Good example are those who holler for female priests. It’ll never happen. God Bless, Memaw

Oh, I agree completely. Dogma is Dogma, and it won’t be changing. I’m only saying that the MSM will attach themselves to yet another misrepresentation of our Holy Father’s words to support their fractured and irrational concept of reality.
