Watch “Cardinal Cardinal Timothy Dolan on Immigration” on YouTube

Good to see … very good. This administrations policies related to immigrants are decidedly unchristian.

This is very interesting. The Catholic church has rules, but our govrrnment should not? The Cuomo family is for abortion rights and yet cardinal Dolan does not condemn this, but is steadfast in condeming the government’s right to protect our borders. ,

He’s Catholic, he’s an Archbishop, and he’s a Cardinal…so, his stance should come as no surprise…its the opposite stance by American Catholic voters that is scandalous.

But, this thread is only an hour old, before nightfall the administrations apologists will give justification and rationalization for the intrinsically evil acts being committed by this administration.

I agree that little children should not be separated from their families.

However, the good Cardinal contradicts Catholic teaching when he spoke about the Catechism saying that a sovereign nation as a right to have safe secure borders, but then goes on to defend illegal immigration by comparing them to his grandparents who came legally.

You can’t have it both ways. Either we have immigration laws and secure our borders, or we don’t and just tell everyone to come through at the border check point and remove the border agents there. Just let whomever wants to come into the US, to drive in, non-stop.

Also, the report on the news last evening showed the so-called children who were separated from their parents who entered the US illegally, they were all teens between the age of 16 and 20. I saw no babies. or little children.

I say this on a lot of threads, but not everything is abortion. Still, Cardinal Dolan did touch on this, if you would have listened, when he mentioned, " …that to violently take a baby from its mother’s womb is wrong, and to violently take a baby from its mother’s arms on the border, that’s immoral; that’s wrong."
You can’t have it both ways. Either we have immigration laws and secure our borders, or we don’t and just tell everyone to come through at the border check point and remove the border agents there.
Sure you can. I recommend you consider what the word “secure” means.
If you give the command “SECURE THE BUILDING”, here is what the different services would do:

The NAVY would turn out the lights and lock the doors.

The ARMY would surround the building with defensive fortifications, tanks and concertina wire.

The MARINE CORPS would assault the building, using overlapping fields of fire from all appropriate points on the perimeter.

The AIR FORCE would take out a three-year lease with an option to buy the building.
If the child is not booby-trapped or carrying drugs, and the mother is not a terrorist, then one can secure the border without arrest. The border still remains unmolested.

In fact, you can have it both ways. This kind of black and white thinking does nothing to help us be salt and light to our nation. We need secure borders, and we need immigration laws. We also can be humane in the process.

Cardinal Dolan, Bishops’ Pro-Life Chairman, on Deceptive “Catholics for Choice” Ad Campaign (2016)
CFC’s extreme ads promote abortion as if it were a social good. But abortion kills the most defenseless among us, harms women, and tears at the heart of families. Pushing for public funding would force all taxpaying Americans to be complicit in the violence of abortion and an industry that puts profit above the well-being of women and children.

I’m not sure why children are being separated from their families. They should go back with the family and complete the immigration process legally. If they are of legal adult age, then its their choice to stay in America or seek citizenship in their parent’s country(if they aren’t a citizen already).

Amen, Cardinal Dolan!!!

There is no way to justify taking children from their mothers. It is an assault on the family and human dignity. It irreparably damages children. And, if anyone think God is smiling on this dispicable act he/she is sadly mistaken.

Matthew 25 is very clear! Beware!
34 Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’
44 Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
The question is: How do we secure our borders AND protect the sacred bond of the family and human dignity?

I am glad someone else posted Cardinal Dolan’s interview. It’s our duty as Catholic Christians to follow Jesus’s example of love, mercy, compassion.

Cardinal Dolan-" We need a good dose of compassion". “Enough of blame and accusation. Let’s get together to make this work”.

Same here! I was beginning to wonder if I were on a Catholic site for a while, with the lack of support for the Church on this issue that there was on other threads; @EvangelistVictor, me and a couple of others.

Yes, but the way cardinal dolan and other liberals want it is the wrong way to do it.
The issue is taking thousands of kids away from their mothers. There is no right way to do that. Besides, it is not Christian just to wish someone to be well and be on their way. “If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?” - James 2:16

Well, hopefully we can at least agree that the attack on families should end…

I was with you all in spirit, but I have been largely away from CAF doing some charity work these last several days.
