I bet my brain is every bit as typical as yours. I just dont allow feeling to decide how I run my life. I have 3 brother and 2 sisters. I have two sons and two grandchildren. And just one wife and a mother. Those 9 people are far more important to me than anyone else. Anyone who can claim they treat everyone equal is a liar. I will take care of my mother before I take care of someone else mother. I will take care of my children and grand children before I help someone else children. Anyone who claim different is a liar. I will take care of an american before I will take care of someone from another country. I am every bit as catholic as Cardinal Dolan.
 
Mmmkay. BrotherVictor, as a stranger are you invited in TO STAY in other countries? I’m not. Do you normally take “strangers” off the street into your house(probably a more accurate depiction of that gospel)? I don’t because I don’t know if that person shares my values or is a potentially dangerous bipolar drug addict coming down from a high. Maybe you should consider to what extent strangers could be more dangerous in the current age compared to a time when people quite honestly did not have 1/100 the issues/morality problems as we do today. Also, the problem is not that they need shelter. They have shelter. They just want more-the MORE the U.S. has to offer without really LIKING the U.S. enough to follow its laws. Its envy.

42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,

43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
 
I thought I read or heard on the news somewhere that the Catholics for Choice (CFC) was not a real organization. Is the CFC not a real organization? That was around the time of our last presidential election cycle.

Anyways, this is one issue I have trouble with. On one hand I feel someone who breaks the law to come into our country should not get priority of those that are doing it through legal means. On the other hand I feel tremendously for the families that are just trying to have a better life for their children and escape the cartels. I don’t want to see children separated from their parents. I also believe we our a country of laws and those laws need to be upheld. I happen to know some families that are not legal, but are good families. I am so divided over this, there are no easy answers. :confused:

This is a tough one for sure. However I don’t think this all started under Pres Trump, I mean these were laws that were already on the books and had happen over the last few Presidents, haven’t they?

It is astounding how little has happened on a whole host of issues. I remember something about crumbling infrastructure. That sounded like something everyone could have worked on but it seems there’s more effort put into tribal warfare.
It seems to me in this age, words matter more than actions.

That too. I mean, America will not remain prosperous with only 1% of the population truly wealthy and more and more the majority of citizens being unskilled workers due to unfettered immigration. How will social safety nets be paid? What is the incentive for rich business owners to stay here if they are going to be taxed to death paying for everyone’s social safety nets?

I have no problem with the 1% and the reason I dont is when you look at the list of the top 20, half of them create whole new industries. They didnt steal their wealth they created it. Government does more to stop the middle class from growing and securing a comfortable retirement than the 1% ever did. Get government out of the way and the middle class will grow. Allow people to invest their SS into companies instead to government and folks will retire will more security and a larger monthly payment.

Each and every one of these is how individuals are to help others. Not government. But progressives instead of walking the talk want to force other to walk it.

the consequences that may derive therefrom are the results of the parents’ actions

THE USA is a sovereign nation, not a charitable institution

let cardinal dolan move a few immigrant families into the palatial home he lives in; if he is so concerned about it

wake up & smell the coffee: the USA is already $22,000,000,000 in DEBT

The new progressive belief is that everyone alive today has a right of return to the united states. we are suppose to take in every single person that wants to come to this country. once here we are to supply them with every thing they need and want to have a middle class life.
 
Scary how many Catholics on here advocate on behalf of separating children from parents for what should be a minor crime.

Let’s cut off the hands of people who steal bread to feed their families and then let’s send their kids to the workhouses! That’ll teach 'em!
