This is wonderful . He is one of the people responsible for ending the cold war . He did alot to make peace . John Paul the Great he should be known as . However there is a group of people out there (who call themselves catholic ) who think that he was an anti pope . They are called the Society of St. Pius X Catholics. Now since we are getting so close to his canonization , they are coming out more and more with their anti pope literature about Pope John Paul II . They disliked him for his compliance with post Vatican II . They say since he went along with that, he cannot be called Pope . I always quote Matthew chapter 16 to them whenever possible :"You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it . I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. " As far as I am concerned this verse in the Bible from Jesus gave the church the authority to have Vatican II .Hutton Gibson(Mel Gibson’s father ) has a website dedicated to putting down our current Pope as well as the rest of the Roman Catholic church.We have enough of the 45000 + protestant denominations attacking us left and right with their own interpretation of God’s word .We dont need churches (who call themselves catholic) putting us down as well.Please to everyone , stick up for John Paul The Great . he did way too much for this world to have a group (who call themselves catholic) putting him down every chance they get . Quote Matthew 16 and 18 and tell them that God does not lie and when you protest against the leaders of the church you protest against God as well for it is he who gave the church the authority to have Vatican II .
