The Vatican is replacing controversial ambassador Carlo Maria Vigano, the man responsible for arranging the meeting between Pope Francis and antigay gay Kentucky clerk Kim Davis last fall during his visit to the U.S. The French-born Archbishop, Christophe Pierre, could be soon named the new Apostolic nuncio to the United States, Catholic magazine America reports.
Even though the news will not be confirmed by The Vatican until President Obama’s administration has agreed to the new nuncio’s appointment, Sandro Magister, the veteran Vatican watcher, revealed the replacement on his blog Settimo Cielo on March 10, and added “his promotion is imminent.” According to the magazine, reliable sources confirmed Pope Francis would be making the official announcement before Easter.
The article does not say that the reason for Vigano’s firing was his role is setting up the Davis meeting; post hoc non necessario est propter hoc.

Archbishop Vigano is retiring because he has reached the retirement age of 75. The liberal media is trying to portray this as: “He is being fired because he is insufficiently pro-homosexuality.” There is no evidence to support that.

We cross posted, but yes, that’s what I read yesterday from a Huff Post article.

At least this headline is better than the one that said he was “fired” because of Kim Davis.

But, yeah, the pope accepting the resignation of a bishop age 75 or older is part of the normal order of business for the Vatican. Such bishops are not being “fired”. 🤷

I guess this is “news” (to me): the article says Kim Davis is “antigay gay.”

The news headlines from the secular media made me mad when I saw how they put it. His excellency is obviously 75 and is retiring, I hope its good times for him ahead, firing him? That is totally not what is happening. Respectfully the media needs to recant that wording. Just my 2 cents.
